Metolux Filler

Does anyone know of a source or if it's still available? For those that don't know about it, it is a 2 part filler mat'l using aluminum powder & a liquid. I remember my father using it in the late 60s/early 70s. More recently I used it @ my workplace about 15 years ago. I was using it to fill a low ...

Re: King 9 x 49 Pin broken in Spindle Bore

Bro found this video:

Checking on Ebay the replacement screws are US sourced & are priced from 26 bucks CDN (including shipping) & up. Have any of the Canadian members found a source on our side of the border?

Re: Tapping Fluids

When I started my apprenticeship back in '81 the tapping fluid being used was brown stinky stuff. I don't recall its name, but the journeyman weren't impressed when it was eliminated & replaced w/ a lesser product not long afterwards.

Re: Tapping Fluids

I should've added this, I'm using the Cool Tool for ferrous metals. For aluminum I'm using Anchorlube. I've been using it since I was an apprentice & never had any issues w/ it. Easily sourced in my area.

Tapping Fluids

I have an issue/question & looking for a possible substitute. I'm currently using Monroe Cool Tool II tapping fluid. I buy it in the 1 pint container & then use these 8 oz bottles: http://www.harborfreight.com/pack-of-3-8-oz-storage-bottles-with-twist-caps-66170.html to apply it. My issue is that wh...

Hobby Machinist in Caledon Ontario?

A chap on a snowmobiling website is looking for someone to repair a V belt pulley. I bought a used 20" commercial planer that was single phase to save on the converter expense (finally found one for sale). It was missing a bolt and a key in the keyway. This machine was made in Brazil I the late 80s....

I got this & another PM today.

I've never discussed anything CNC, so I imagine they're spamming quite a few members.

Re: King 9 x 49 Pin broken in Spindle Bore

Assuming that you have a BP or clone mill, the 2 blind holes are for a spanner and yes it comes of like a regular nut. I had to replace mine, as it is necessary, if one installs a right angle head. Outside of that I have no idea what else it is used for. If this "nut" is removed, do I have to watch...

King 9 x 49 Pin broken in Spindle Bore

Mon' night when I was installing the R8 collet holder in my mill I realized that the small pin that "interacts" w/ the slot in the holder was broken. Is this pin necessary? If yes, is it difficult to replace? I see on the bottom "face" of the spindle that there are 2 blind holes approx' 1/4" in dia'...
