Re: More Chloe Questions

Hello Group, Well the morning started off early for me as I left the driveway at about 4:30am on Saturday. The roads sure are nice at that time of day!!! No traffic in sight. I arrived at SVLS at about 6:45 and got things unloaded. I started in with my oiling routine and enjoyed my morning coffee! I...

Hello Group, Well after many late nights I am nearing the end!!! 1. Foot pegs done. 2. Lubricator Fittings mended. 3. New cylinder cover fabricated. 4. Cylinder cocks cleaned and re-fitted. 5. New "All American" pressure gauge installed. 6. Re-positioned the throttle so you can actually reach it! 7....

Re: More Chloe Questions

Thanks Jesse! That's a great idea. I knew that I needed to provide some way to retain this bar in the engine and your trick will work just fine! I was able to shine more brass last night and was able to fit the 1/4"X1" bars along the rear frame extension. I don't care for the cast aluminum frames wh...

More Chloe Questions

Hello Group, My Dad has recently purchased a Allen Models Chloe That was built sometime back in the 90's. The builder’s plate has "SOMERS" on it and I believe it was from the Los Angles area?? This engine is very nice and actually ran quite well the other weekend after some fiddling.... I think it w...

Re: Cylinder finish

Hello Group, I think that I found this web-site from an earlier post regarding cylinder liners: http://www.reliablebronze.com/index.html They have a bunch of different sizes and may have something that will fit perfectly into you design. The prices are great and the end products look pretty nice. Ch...

Re: What's your "worst" job? - Machining Axleboxes?

I'll toss my vote in for the worst job! Axleboxes it is! But for me it was getting the bore correct to accept the ball bearing.... I made 8 to get 6.... Very frustrating when you think you've got it and then.... Uh Oh.... That's in the scrap bin!

Cheers,

Re: Building/Servicing stand

Hello Group, Here's one I fab'ed up for my shop. I needed to keep the overall width down to 18" so that I could sneak the stand in between a car and the sidewall of my garage. I constructed the unit using 2" box tubing and some 3" channel and have attached some 3" swivel castors on each corner for e...
