Re: Grand Scale

I think that's an excellent idea. "Grand Scale" is a much closer cousin to the rest of Live Steam than any other segment of railroading. I can't hardly find much discussion anywhere else except a Yahoo Group that is rather dead most of the time. I think this would be a MOST excellent idea. Rob Gardner

Re: Looking for Harry Haas ATSF Northern design

Jimmy Starrett is the gentleman who built the Jim Robison engine, apparently the 2929. He was from Joplin, MO as I recall. I met him around 1988 (I know it was before I graduated from HS in 1990) at the Lake Shore Live Steamers track in Kirtland, OH. He was working out of one of our member's shops t...

ASR - Reading T-1 2100 2016 Roundhouse Report July 9, 2016

Evening, all! Sorry for the lengthy dry spell since the last 2100 roundhouse report. The month of July has been a busy and productive one in Cleveland at 2800 W. 3rd St. for ASR. On July 9, the following volunteers were in attendance to help get the 2100 a little closer to her first hydro test: • Go...

Re: Piping Kits for Locomotives

No such animal exists on the market that I am aware. Start with a scale drawing of the backhead, locate your water glass and throttle. Next, Determine what you intend to run on steam and then lay them out on your turret in the order and placement you want and go from there. Best to get a catalog of ...

Re: Looking for another Locomotive - NC&St.L Yellow jacket N

GWR, thanks for this information. Sad to hear it wouldn't run on the track but in the video that was posted, she seemed to steam well and run like a bandit on the roller stand. Probably a matter of equalization and suspension. Hopefully she is still well cared for a protected. Probably in a shed or ...

Looking for another Locomotive - NC&StL Yellow jacket No.576

Recently on facebook, someone posted a video of a very nice 1.5" scale model of NC&St.L 4-8-4 No.576 from back in the 80s or 90s on display in the park in Nashville next to the full size No.576. In the video, the owner steamed up his model of 576 and ran it in place on a roller-outfitted stand on hi...
