Another reason to add the acid to the water and not the reverse is the difference in specific gravities. Water is lighter therefore it tends not to sink into the acid whereas the reverse is true when adding acid to water.

If I remember, you need to push the pin to pin side, turn the magazine tube, then twist the barrel from the action ( approximately 90 deg) and it should slide out. The action should be closed. It's been a while, but thats how I remember it. Rick

Hi Pete, Thanks for the input. I did try making a simple die to form the cup, but it was a failure. The aluminum (beer can) tore and when I increased the clearances they came out lopsided and unuseable. I suspect you would need some sort of a star shaped die to form a proper crimp. I have since boug...

DIY Percussion Caps

Hi,
Is anyone on this list familiar with the "Forster Tap-o-Cap" I would like to duplicate it or make something similar for my own use. It is used to make your own percussion caps using aluminum from cans and roll caps used in toy pistols. Thanks, Rick

3/4" Scale

Hi, This is my first attempt at building a locomotive and also my first attempt to post a photo to this list. Hope it works out for both (The photo was taken today. I did not have the correct date set on the camera). I started the locomotive in 1992 and it is now close to being steamed up to check f...

Thanks to all for the input. I wlll abandon the "Skate Board" idea and build my own trucks using the ideas presented. I am a bit unclear as to how to make the connection between the trucks and the board, but it sould not be too dificult. Rick

Quick and Dirty Riding Car

List, I am close to finishing my 3-1/2" Rob Roy and will be needing some sort of riding car. I am getting burned out with the locomotive (no pun intended) construction and do not want to get wrapped up in building a scale riding car at this time. In a flash of brilliance the other day, I thought, "W...

Propane/Actylene substitution

List,

I have a small Oxy/Acetylene torch set, Just out of curiousity, is it feasible to substitute Propane for the Acetylene using the existing Acetylene Regulator, or is this a recipe for disaster. What would the problems or ramifications ? No, I am not suicidal, just wondering!

17 Aguila Chamber Pressure

Does anyone know what chamber pressures the 17 Aguila produces relative to the pressures developed by the 22 cal Long Rifle? I am thinking about converting a 22 LR to the 17 Aguila using a 17 cal liner. Is there a great difference in the pressures and if so need I be worried about the difference in ...

.17 Aguila Homebrew

A while back I questioned d the feasibiluity of making a chamber reamer for the 17 Aguila. I was enocouraged by the response, however, to date, I have not been able to find any ammunition, only case dimensions. I am tired of waiting. I have been kicking around the possibility of making my own by res...

.17 Cal. Aguila

I want to convert a 22 LR to the .17 Cal. Aguila. I cannot find any dimensions for this cartridge and I do not want to spend nearly $100 for a chambering reamer, so I want to make my own. I would use the published dimensions for the 22 LR for the diameter and the headspace and then measure as best I...

Hit and Miss Ignition

I am getting close to finishing my hit and miss engine and am looking for advice or tips on the ignition system. Specifically what kind of a coil should I use and is it worth my while or time to make my own spark plugs or coil too for that matter.

thanks
