Re: 1” Scale Consolidated Safety Valves

Another section view would be cool. I got 80% of the way with a pair in 1.5" scale and it was indeed much more difficult than I thought it would be. Now that I have a good lathe with a collet closer I may try to finish them. Chucking or collet repeatability is highly desirable when making the main b...

Great question. I'd also like to hear about the Allen Models pump.
We have a crosshead and an axle pump, but not a steam pump...

Re: Radius for Allen Mogul?

Many thanks for the input. There's room for 45' so I think I will go with that consensus. When the time comes... That's great. We just built a private railroad for someone with 45 degree radius curvature throughout. He has a very large electric locomotive and it has no issues. Anything up to a cons...

Re: Radius for Allen Mogul?

The minimum radius listed on our site for the Allen Mogul is 32 feet. However I wouldn't recommend that for continual mainline use as you'll subject the rail and or the wheels to excess wear depending on the material of track used, not to mention a reduced pulling capacity and more wear on the valve...

Re: Gauging interest in 3” or 3.75” scale DRGW 16” diameter Hand Brake Wheel castings

Back to the topic at hand, I might be interested in 3" scale brake castings if the price is reasonable. I can currently 3D print them, but it's cheaper to get bulk castings than printings in metal. Most of my handbrake hardware is in plastic for that reason.

Re: Gauging interest in 3” or 3.75” scale DRGW 16” diameter Hand Brake Wheel castings

For narrow gauge equipment, you can make the wheel width as much as you want, as long as it's on the wider side of what's needed. the extra width to the outside does nothing good or bad, there's no interference. If you have standard gauge equipment with skinny tires designed for gentler curves than ...

Looks great! How are the dies held in place?
They just sit there as a slip fit. The tool is always used right-side up so it won't fall out.
