Re: Modified D-valve dimensions from print

Yes - but I wanted to make sure I understand correctly. The notes say to modify 'C' to suit, while maintaining 1/8" Lap. With the amount of core fins that is present, I think I will be over the 0.250" port dimension when I clean up. Also, the notes call for a 3/8" distance between the cavity inside ...

Modified D-valve dimensions from print

Hello, I'm working on a set of Allen Mogul cylinders. The dilemma I have right now is that the ports have been cored strangely. As it stands now, the port dimensions that I'm coming up with are oversize, not because of the actual core, but there was a core fin remaining, resulting in the edge of the...

Re: Rebuild of an Allen Mogul.

I guess it depends how you set up your cylinder. Are you talking about working on the bore surface, or are you talking about the different faces of the cylinder itself? IE Valve Surface, Cylinder Saddle Mating surface, etc...?

Ratchet and Pawls for 12"/15" would be nice. McMaster charges an arm and leg, last I checked.

Question about coal

Hi all, I came across an ad for coal and I will be driving by there on a trip over Labor Day weekend, so I'm considering stopping and picking up a few buckets to try it out.... But wanted to ask the brain trust as to what I should be looking for.... The ad states this, and nothing more regarding cha...

The Wabash, Frisco and Pacific is in Glencoe, Missouri, NE Kansas. 12 locomotives, scheduled weekend service. All volunteer, live steam club operation. Largest collection of operating 12” gauge locomotives in the world, I think.
Er.... Glencoe, MO... Not in NE Kansas. :-)

Re: Cylinder Cocks Issue (Video)- Any Suggestions?

Entirely possible that it is not on rollers... If not on rollers, I believe that the valve gear is slightly out of sync because of lower driver centers (due to no weight on the suspension). But it could all be a little sticky due to dry oil in the cylinder/valves, etc... right?

Re: Cylinder Cocks Issue (Video)- Any Suggestions?

Not sure why the suspicion is that the E/S cylinder is not receiving steam. It is evident that it is getting steam due to steam wisping from the piston/valve rod glands. It does seem very sticky... Do the cylinder cocks open as they should be? When open, do they seem to exhaust an equal amount of st...

Bill
That index only goes to 1989, which is only a portion of what we are looking for.

Re: Modeltec magazine - full listing of issues

There used to be one on DLS... Then it went missing. I poked around and found it on the IBLS WIKI... But that is incomplete. But I have a general list of issues on my phone so I can keep an eye out when certain issues come across my hands... and buy or pass on. I'm focused on the T12 issues right no...

Re: Driver Casting Repro

This is interesting: http://www.ijirse.com/wp-content/upload/2016/02/1160B.pdf They are 3D printing the moulds directly with sodium silicate/sand using a process similar to the laser sintering process but with a CO2 jet instead of a laser. No pattern at all. Yes... 3D printing of MOLDS is becoming ...
