Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

TomB--

I could not edit it. Too much time has passed, I suppose. I DID report it and asked that it be disabled. Like you, I hate those things.

Thanks!

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

TomB--

Not a virus . . . push ads. They might as well be viruses.

If I can still edit the post, I'll delete the link and just mention what I ordered.

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

liveaboard--

Re: "I want to build one as an attachment to my tractor, I have a 10kw alternator.
The problem is I have no use for one."

No use for one? What difference does that make?

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

liveaboard-- I know you are correct about over sizing. The house is 5500 sq ft. But, it's all LED lighting. The heating is done with a propane water heater using three low-power pumps to circulate the water. The cooling is done by using those same three pumps to move well water through the house (an...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

All— We had a LOT of rain in south-central Missouri. The river rose a lot. (It was still hundreds of feet below the house.) A tree fell into the raging flood. A power line spanning the river got snagged by the tree rushing downstream. It was MY power line. No power means no water. No water means no ...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

spro and Russ— Re: Knees The only knee problem I’ve needed professional work on is an ACL replacement. They striped a piece of ligament of the right length from somewhere close and put a titanium screw in the upper end. The lower end grew and attached itself to where it was supposed to. That was a d...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

All-- An update . . . The shop (and the laundry room and a full bath) is framed in, wired, the 20' 2x10 ceiling joists on 16" centers (the actual span is 17'6") are in place and I'm in the process of building a 30', strong-back beam from 2x10 lumber to span the shop area. I decided to triple up on t...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

Glen--

The span is 19'. The joists will be on 16" centers and I plan to double up every third 2x10. Oh, the only thing it will hold up is sheetrock. All I can get is pine. (The interwebs told me pine will span 21'.)

What do you think?

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

RSG-- You nailed the road intimidation issue! I had to convince EVERY vendor of construction materials that they could make it back to the build site . . . and then hold my breath that they wouldn't get hung up somewhere. The vendor of the styrofoam forms for the concrete came down the "road" for on...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

SteveM-- I'm glad you mentioned the grinding issue. My shop is on the house's ERV system. I need to make sure that there are no intake ducts in the shop which draw fresh air into the ERV system. (It's an easy relocation fix if there are.) Thanks! I'll also think about some kind of dust and grit divi...

Re: Shop Build (help appreciated!)

pete-- Me, good. :) I plan to use 3/4" OSB on the interior walls. That should allow me to hang (lighter) stuff wherever. Thanks for the air hints. I'll be sure to come back here for more guidance on that issue when I actually get to it. You know, I hadn't actually thought about the concrete floor, o...
