1 inch Ten Wheeler - North American Live Steamer March 1956

On the International Brotherhood of Live Steamers web page it has a picture of Richard J. Stokes Ten Wheeler in 1 inch scale. It was from the March 1956 North American live Steamer. Was there just the picture of it with specifications or was there an article on this engine. Does anyone have anymore ...

Re: Blueprints for 1" freight locos

A friend made an 060 into a nice looking 262. To me if you just use a stock 060 to make a 260 there is to much cab and firebox behind the last driver.

Re: Blueprints for 1" freight locos

If you have the prints for a Pacific it would not take much to adjust the spacing on the axles and side rods to have a 482. Use the British designs to find smaller drivers that will work for this wheel arrangement.

Re: A3 vs Connor Beam vs Raritan

The advantage with the Allen 040 over the A3 and Raritan in 1 1/2 you would not have to scale up the plans from 3/4".

Re: Plans for 1.6" wood reefer

The plans are in the first month of the Modeltec series, so it is in the June 1989 issue. It says it is supplied by Mainline Modeler but does not say it was from any specific month of that magazine. It is not a full build plans of a 1.5" car, but 3/8" scale drawings of a Southern Pacific reefer. The...

Re: Plans for 1.6" wood reefer

Modeltec had an article June, July, and August 1989 by Steve Booth as part of his project rolling stock articles on building a wood reefer. June has plans from I think it was Mainline Modeler with construction details spread out through the three months.

Re: L.E. American & tractive effort?

One of our club member had one that did not pull much. I always wandered if the tender trucks had ball bearings, and thought it would pull better if the tender rolled more freely with the engineer on it.

Re: Piston valve ring blowby

Are you sure it is blowing by the rings? I would suspect the valves may not be seating. Are the valves D-valves or piston?

IMSE Fall Meet

Attached are links to pictures and a video of the Iowa Model Steam Engineers fall meet September 13th. At the beginning of the video is a work train that had to go out and clean the rail. We had a hydraulic drive engine break down and coat the left rail with oil. Everyone stopped and cleaned the rai...

Re: Blow down valve problem

I would take some 400 wet dry sand paper and put it on a flat plate or pain of glass. Then lightly hone the body the valve sides on and the valve to get a good surface. On mine I took a small section of stainless steel spring and put between the valve and the arm it rides in. This give it just a lit...
