Re: Building Track by Lester Friend

When the Iowa Model Steam Engineers was doing research to build a highline at our new location, some of the East coast clubs sent me some pictures of their slip switches.

Attached are a few pictures that was sent to me.

Re: Portable elevated track ideas

The highline that the Iowa Model Steam Engineers has would work for a portable track. We purchased the left over from the St Croix live steamers.

There is a write up in the Best of Live Steam volume 1.

Re: Quartering drivers

I use the method to broach the driver 45 degrees ahead and behind center so the axle can be the same on both ends. This way you do not have to index the axle 90 degrees to cut the key way.

To give a perspective of size, what diameter are the drivers and boiler?

Thanks

Re: 3/4" Kozo A3a Side Rods Tight

The quality of your work looks top notch and on the video they roll very smooth when they are on the correct side. I would put them on and be satisfied. On my last engine I had to do this to get it to roll smoothly and never looked back. Now that it is finished it is a good running engine. Wayne Iow...

Re: Mini Blowdown Meet at Montreal - VIDEO & PHOTOS

Nice camera work on the video. Toward the end, how did you get the video moving along side the long train? Were you walking beside the train with the camera? It was still with no vibration.

Re: Safety Valves for Small Scale Use

David I wrote up how to make a pop valve in Modeltec June 1999. It is very simple and uses a purchased relief valve and adds a few holes in it. I have used it for 1" and small 1 1/2" engines. A lot of the members of our Iowa club have used them also. This was a design shared to me by the late PG "Sc...

There is a construction article in Modeltec February 1986 on how to make sanders for an engine.

Re: Some photos of the Small Scales Meet at LALS

There have been a few pictures posted of this years meet. Can someone post more and give a meet account of how many engines were in attendance. I live somewhere out in the middle and to far from the meet to attend, but started in 1" scale and am interested how the meet went and was attended. Wayne D...

Need new Free web page site for our club

I have been doing the web page for the Iowa Model Steam Engineers, but in August my internet service provider is going to discontinue their free web page support.

What free web page sites are available with web creation software for dummies?
