Re: Welshpool & Llanfair open wagons

Jerry, I would love to see those plans if you want to share. I am assuming that is a narrow gauge prototype as well? I'm happy to share, but you'll have to PM me your email address since some of the files are large. The plans would get you the dimensions of most of the metal parts for 7 1/2" gauge ...

Re: Welshpool & Llanfair open wagons

Hello everyone, Any British and Welsh rolling stock fans out there, I have an interest in building reasonably accurate models of the Welshpool & Llanfair light RY 2’6” gauge gondola wagons. I intend to build them to run on 7.5" gauge track. I have plans for a "wood Wagon", that is it is a wood fram...

Re: Smokebox number plate

I'd be nervous about blasting it. The metal could be too soft (zinc?) and you could end up making things worse. I'd use paint remover to clean it. I don't think the heat is as bad as you might think. I did a test some years ago of about a dozen engines and reported here that the typical temperature...

Re: Smokebox number plate

You could try VHT paint in a spray can. Get it at an auto parts store like O'Reilly. They have several colors

Re: dynamometer car

Chris Leggo may have mentioned his 4 3/4"-5" gauge dynamometer car when writing up his series of October Experiments for Live Steam Magazine 20 years ago. Chris designed it to test out his engine for the IMLEC competition. I don't know how it worked but it still exists and is owned by a GGLS member....

Re: Allen Cylinders maximum bore

I went and checked out the set of cylinders that I have. Unfortunately, they are bored to 2 1/4" and the overall length of the cylinders is 5 3/16". There is not enough material to bore them to the 2 3/4" you wanted. Sorry. I have had these for several years. Maybe someone here will want them. JD J...

Allen Cylinders maximum bore

I am looking for cylinders with a bore of 2 3/4, stroke 3 3/16. Wonder if anyone has bored out an Allen mogul cylinder that far? I'm trying to avoid making a cylinder pattern. If not Allen, then has anyone else got a suitable cylinder for slide valves? No smoke box saddle required or desired.

Re: Turbo Genertator metal

Do any of my fellow steamer's know were you may get Transformer Iron? I am building the Turbo Generator from the 1998 Live Steam mag (Sept/Oct). I have all the other metal's (from my scrap box) that are needed. I know that the you can take apart an old ballast, but I can not find one with a big cor...

Re: Kozo A3 wheel patterns 1 1/2" scale

Anyone interested in a pattern board with one driver and two tender wheels for a doubled up Kozo A3 0-4-0 tender loco? Pattern was used to make four molds, otherwise is new. If there is any interest I can post a couple pictures. This item is free for shipping to someone wanting to make A3 wheel cas...

Nope. This was Lundbergs pattern and he built one but it isn't finished and running. He no longer needs the pattern.

I can keep it until November if you want it....
