A chuck falling on the bed is a bad thing..... But falling and smashing my fingers on the bed is worst....
I have a small gantry that does the trick for me.... But those wooden cradles wouldnt require nearly as much effort to get into position....

Recently I had a 4 foot 1 1/4" acme screw that was bent a little over .150 i the worst place. There were maybe 5 or 6 kinks I tried most everything I could imagine. And nothing worked. So I dug out the jig I used to bend some rebar. It uses a hydraulic jack. The jack sits on the back to back C ...

Atlas 10100 lead screw question.
Yeah one of the little blue lathes followed me home.
As I look at it the lead screw seems to be a 1/2X20.
Shouldnt it have an acme screw?

Wrenches are easy to make or buy... and yes you need a wrench..
