Re: Steam pressure gauge question
To all, 100 % agree to comments! Bill, yes, there were issues now and then. I baught a medium size boiler which had an idnustry type 40 mm gauge with a range up to 10 bars. The boiler showed a steady 8 bars (120 psi) maximum preasure when fired up  After some (water) tests with a second one...

Re: Low Water Alarms
Hello Jack, Thank you for posting and your offer! Superb models 8). Just a little too tall for my A 1239 :( The Nathan type seemed to be the more reliable one. It's function was by active force, no debris could stop it. Checking was easy, too. Locomotive Cyclopedia contains a drawing with explanatio...

Hello Brian, Thank you for your recognition :) apm, March is a little too early to start the season, sorry :( Most clubs will start the outdoor season in late april or even may. Hamburg is very well conected to most of the bigger cities by high speed rails (ICE). So you might visit one of the bigger...

Re: draught required for oil firing
H.ey Andrew, About 40 years ago I built a German class 44 oilburner, scale 1 in 10 for 5 " gauge. Your questions are well known to me :) The solution I found worked well for me - just no smoke at varius power outputs and yet exessive steam production if needed :D . Maybe the photos can be of so...

8) Hello Anthony, like your precision work 8) Maybe you know there is one of the batch of post WW II class 1-4-1 Rs, delivered to France, still alive at Brugg / Switzerland? Last summer I enjoyed a special round trip at Lake Zuerich. In excellent condition she`s still working as intended by their bu...

Hello
RussN, I am happy to see a quite similar solution of the same parts
Bushav, the simple plain valves will surely do for a while, too. Good luck!
Best regards

Re: Northern 4-8-4 Build 3/4”
Hello bushav, A gap of 1 to 2 (max) thou of an inch should work. With my first engine I started with piston valves of 16 - 0.03 mm diameter with no rings, made of stainless steel. They worked fine for years, as long as lubrication worked totally :!: reliable. The stem must not connected to the valve...

Re: New PRR T1 Being Built
Exactly my question. Does anyone want 1,000,000 of loco and tender out on the tracks? Am sure they have thought of this. As for anti-slip, all they need are encoders on the drive axles and a separate servo controlled throttle for the front cylinders. Trivial in today's environment...pretty much sta...
