Re: Anyone know what lathe this is?
If you look close at the first pic, there is a tailstock on it, plus it has the drive system mounted. They were smart to remove them for movement, and transport. The Lathe looks to have the taper attachment mounted on it. Those old Hendly's will out preform a lot of the newer lathes. The lathe will ...

Batteries, and Battery Charging
Does anyone know if you can charge Lithium battery's with a NICAD charger. I have a chance to recell some battery's with Lithium cells, that will give me longer tool life per charge than the Nicads.

Re: Best way to thread without gears?
You do not absolutely have to have a thread dial, there a nice to have. You can thread without one. How you do it without a dial is the same as doing metric threads on a non metric lathe. You get set up to cut your thread and engage your 1/2 nuts, do not disengage till your done threading, you take ...

Re: Best way to thread without gears?
The first question is, where are you, put a location in your profile. First determine the diametrial pitch of your existing gears. Then go to your local bearing supply house, and have them look in the Boston, Martin, or Browning gear books. and order what you need. As an alternative, if you are near...

Re: easy carbide insert ID
Sense most of my lathe tools use the same insert, my problem was not figuring out what went with whom, but identifying the difference between the type of insert ( C2-C5). Here is what I did for insert identification. I spray painted all of my C2 inserts bright yellow, the C5's I left alone.

Re: What is this? Apparently an 8" South Bend but..?
There is a advantage to having a change gear lathe, in that you can cut metric threads with it. By using a 56/44 combined gear as a intermediate gear you can cut most all of the metric pitches, they will be good for short length threads up to 1-1/4" length. For an example this is the gear set u...

He came down to the Boulder City, NV track in April of last year. He ran for a day, and we have not heard or seen anything from him since.

Re: Destroying ammunitions
I would go and find an old Dutch Oven, Put about 100 in at a time and set on a fire to heat up and cook them off. After they quit poping off, take off fire and let cool, Then repeat for the next batch. Make sure you only put them in only one layer deep.

6x12 surface grinder
Looking for information on a 6x12 Harbor Freight, bench mount surface grinder, with a metal box stand under it. It does not have a mag chuck on it.
What I am looking for is the original selling price of it. From the look of it in a picture , it appears to be an 1980ish unit.
