As I recall, Emory had two SB lathes that he used.... And I think they were mounted on heavy plates.
Rich Carlstendt would be the one who could verify for sure.

Beech is also good. Has a fine tight grain.Harlock wrote:....In the past we've made them with oak, but we've come tor realize that the grain is too large for smaller scale projects. Mahogany creates a good scale grain match for oak.

Re: Progress on my Little Engines "C.P. Huntington"
A little bit of LE C.P. Huntington trivia..... Has anyone ever watched the musical, "The King and I"? I'm talking the classic 1950s version starring Yul Brenner and Deborah Kerr..... all the others are crap. In the King's study, den, or whatever you want to call it, you will see the origin...

Re: AIR COMPRESSOR IDENTIFCATION
Moody Braun designed and developed the compressor mentioned above by Steven during the transition period of Little Engines ownership to him from Irene. The pump was listed (drawings/materials.... It was bar stock construction and no castings) in the LE catalog during the early 1980s well before the ...

Re: INJECTOR UPDATE
Hey, Rich.... The 1985 meet was the IBLS meet at LALS. Barry's Nathan was first displayed at the 1984 meet. I've drawn a blank on the L&M injector. There was an L.S. injector.

Re: INJECTOR UPDATE
I spoke with Barry in regards to the current quality of his Simplex injector body castings about 10 years ago. To eliminate problems, he had upped the wax inspection level and even hand delivered the waxes to the foundry in order to avoid UPS damage in shipping. What he could not control was the fo...

Re: INJECTOR UPDATE
I should clarify.... I shot all of the body waxes (and it's cores) only for the Nathan's initial production run, which was fifty. Barry shot the waxes for the rest of the injector's castings.LivingLegend wrote:....I also shot the waxes and cores at Barry's for all of the Nathan's bodies....

Re: INJECTOR UPDATE
Dave... As far as I can recall, Barry didn't hydro the bodies of his injectors. i guess it boiled down to the high quality put out by the foundry he used.... and the foundry Barry used was one of the best. When Barry produced the first run of fifty Nathan Simplex injectors during the early 1980s, I ...

Re: Railroad Supply History
I assume you all have seen the vidios on youtube? Very cool footage.... In addition to Chet's Little Engines 4-8-4 at the beginning of https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qGz5AbwJcZ0 (A Visit to Railroad Supply Corporation, 1984), is the prototype RRSC Mikado. The CP173 that's on display with them belong...
