Bill, I'm suggesting that the valve passage in the cylinder be tangential to the bore at the bottom with the valve at the same level. Higher wouldn't work but if the passages could be made "level" with the bottom of the cylinder bore....

Go to boobtube and look up Clickspring. He uses boric acid paste to cover small parts and there is almost no oxidation. Try it, it works very well.
