Re: evaluation of the new cylinder cock design from "The Backshop"

Don't have a fancy phone or the like, but I think Bill has the idea. Yeah, it would have to start with the pattern; adding the necessary bulges and bosses so the appropriate hole could be drilled in each end of the cylinder casting. But I guess tradition will be the way. I admit that such placement ...

Re: evaluation of the new cylinder cock design from "The Backshop"

Bill, I'm suggesting that the valve passage in the cylinder be tangential to the bore at the bottom with the valve at the same level. Higher wouldn't work but if the passages could be made "level" with the bottom of the cylinder bore....

I wish I knew how to post a sketch...

Re: evaluation of the new cylinder cock design from "The Backshop"

It seems to me that this universal problem could be better solved by placing the drain ports tangentially to the bottom of the cylinder bore and having the whole valve way above the usual position. Re: MEG steam Wendy

I have a set I won't be using. Can mail in a tube. Give me a couple of days to review them to make sure the set is complete, then I'll come up with an idea of 'mailing' cost. I don't want much, maybe $40 plus mailing. Let me know.

Re: Effects of Hardening/Tempering

Go to boobtube and look up Clickspring. He uses boric acid paste to cover small parts and there is almost no oxidation. Try it, it works very well.
