Re: Setting up a "Precise Super 65" spindle grinder
The speed control is specific to the Super 65 . Steve I doubt the "speed control" is that "specific", I suspect it is no more than a variable transformer, but that's water under the "spent money bridge" now. I'm also surprised that a smaller dia. stone would require a ...

Max, I believe Craftex is a Busy Bee Tools brand. Busy Bee is the Canadian "Grizzly".

Re: How to Enclose VFD for Grinder?
Steve,
" A fan in a closed box will actually heat the box, and I didn't want that" "
" I set it to turn on when the VFD warms up, which seems like the intelligent move."
Sorta sounds sorta sounds a bit contradictory to me.

Re: Sizing T-Slot Table for a BT800
The T-nuts may be hardened, so watch out. If you decide to make your own, you will need a tap. I would guess a bottoming tap is best, because you want the threads to go almost all the way through, but I could be wrong. A bottoming tap is difficult to start tapping with, just use a starting tap but ...

Wally, have you determined what the shipping & import costs will be to get that lovely lathe all the way from England to BC?

Re: Shipping a lathe from England ???
wally, I don't know about shipping from England to Canada but you should be able to get a quote or estimate from a Canadian forwarder/shipper. It should be on a suitable pallet and they'll need the total weight & size. I suspect that shipping from your choice of port of entry to your address wil...

Re: File cleaning
If one is familiar with friction sawing, the idea of using a wire wheel on a file won't make much sense. It most likely has pretty much destroyed the teeth. Take a look at them with some magnification. I expect they will be well rounded. Harold I'm not familiar with "friction sawing" ( or...

File cleaning
A while ago I read (somewhere) about cleaning files using a vinegar bath. I tried it out using pickling vinegar (slightly stronger than regular). I did notice a slight cleaning effect but, even though I had "pre-cleaned" the files with a file card I was not impressed with the "non-rem...
