Re: Barco Flex Joints

Hello My Friends Now that looks very familiar. The last Nickel Plate Berkshire that I finished had some Barco flex connectors. Here are some that I fabricated. I used small copper sweat fittings from McMaster for the elbow part. These were cut down considerably. The threaded rings were some castings...

Re: OS Porter Mogul

Hello My Friends Thank you Dan. Here is a little more on the throttle lever. The actual lever was finished up today. This envolved some turning, some milling, drilling, and some metal finishing. ThrottleLever15.jpeg The throttle lever and quadrant was made a little beefier than the prototype. It sti...

Re: OS Porter Mogul

Here the part has been put in the lathe. It is being held in a square collet. The part in the collet will be cut off after some turning and a #8-48 thread will be tapped. ThrottleLever10.jpeg And here is a look after turning. ThrottleLever11.jpeg Now back to the mill for some more material removal. ...

Re: OS Porter Mogul

Hello My Friends It was one of them wonderful high mountain desert rainy days. Just the perfect day to hang out in the shop with little dog, and the heater going. The sound of the rain coming down was very nice. The other day I blabbed about a throttle lever that I like. Here is the drawing from the...

Re: OS Porter Mogul

Hello My Friends Thank you Odycnuck, I really have fun making little baloney like this. Here is some more baloney  . I have been working on other things like brake valves lately, and now that the waxes for them have been shipped off to the foundry I thought it would be fun to make parts for the...

Hello My friends Hi Timmy I have a set of 1-1/2" scale valves reserved for you. The order book is now closed. Thanks to everyone that has ordered brake valves. The waxes have been sent to the foundry. When the castings arrive I will start machining parts and assembling the brake valves. Jack

Re: Brake Valves

Hello My Friends Once again I must thank everyone that has reserved brake valves. Orders for the one and a half inch scale brake valve sets have been more than twice what I was expecting. I had planned on making maybe 15 sets, and that perhaps I would get orders for ten. I ended up making thirty set...

Re: Brake Valves

Hello My Friends Thank you to all that have reserved brake valves. I have received more orders for the 1-1/2' scale valves than I had anticipated, so I will be making more than I had planned. I have been shooting and cleaning waxes for several days and it looks like I will be for several more. Thank...

Re: Alcalde & Coalfield High Line

Hello My Friends It's a beautiful winter day here at the Alcalde & Coalfield railway. It's pretty chilly, and there is snow on the ground where it hasn't been melted by the sun. Here is a snappy I took the other day. This is looking from the back yard down the hill. It's one of those back lit sh...
