Re: LALS Spring Meet 2012
Well, we made one trip around with 4 OS Mogul steamers. One after another failed until I was pulling the train alone. Still, a great time, and pretty darn impressive that we could move a bunch of those LALS monster bench cars!

Easy fix though. Just saw off the post about 2" above the ground, drill a hole into both sides along the length and insert a spring. Ta-Da!Rwilliams wrote:removed immediately.

Re: Pocahontas at TM?
calchar in Los Angeles sells Utah coal, which is superior to Pocahontas for small engines. $15 a bag. If you own a small engine, char isn't for you. It's too hot, and melts grates. It's also prone to sudden-black firebox disease, which makes you grab for the charcoal, fan and torch to relight the fi...

Well, the signs are pretty, but as one of two in our group with seriously gashed legs from other signs during the years, please put the posts on springs at ground level. Those signs are nice during the day, but at night they are invisible hazards!

Re: Track Etiquette
Blowing out a clogged flue is a badge of honour at MLS. Maricopa. Huh. We lost steam at a meet once. Got a visit by five different people, all wondering why we weren't immediately moving. Then, an E8 trundled down from our front end, without us asking, to pull us into the nearest siding. I just loo...

Shop vacs are annoying, since they need electricity. I got one of these air powered vacs from Grizzly:cbrew wrote:
