How turn a taper
I want to turn a tapered part, but do not have a taper attachment for my lathe. What would be the best method for this? I assume the lathe would be the way to go, but I also have a mill. Here are a couple pictures of the basic idea of the part I plan to make. The part is a baffle for a .22lr silence...

That's a great idea......but I have one of those. I have an old washing machine motor my uncle rigged up years ago. It is real handy.
Thanks

Re: Harrison M300 questions
Look for threads here posted by "fullautomike". He also got his hands on two M300's, and made one good one out of the two. I had helped him out with making a new cross slide screw & nut set. I've been away from the site for a bit, work, hunting, and other stuff, but I'm back here and ...

Re: Threading question with pitch-specific cresting inserts
BTW, that link you posted is quite confusing. While the illustration looks to be a right hand tool, the nomenclature and shim used clearly indicate a left hand version. Check your holder, I'll bet its an "LSASR 83", not an "LSASL 83". Man, you can't get anything about carbide in...

Feeding the last few thousandths using the cross slide does do a nice job of cleaning up the flanks though, but usually no more than a thousandth or so in feed per pass.
That sounds like a good way to do it, I'll try that when I get time to play again.
Thanks Mike
