Apllication of B&S Auto Drifting Valves to DL&W Locos
Hi, I am looking at a 1927 DL&W drawing of a B&S Auto Drifting Valve Application. This small unit was piped into the top rear of the valve cylinder and then had a pipe that extended upward to the forward portion of the steam dome. The drawing lacks the class of locos to which this unit was a...

Re: Is there a prototype for these trucks?
Are there prototypes for these trucks? Photo 1 - No, the round cover just hides the ball bearing behind it. Photo 2 - No Photo 3 - Yes, Buckeye made 3 and 4 axle heavy duty trucks. Many were used under tenders and heavy duty flat cars. Photo 4 - Yes, this appears under a prototype car from some othe...

There was a 6 page BiPolar article that appeared in 1993 Mainline Modeler. It has a centerfold drawing.

Hi,
I attempted to email Craig Bliss using the email address from his web site but it bounced back because of long term email account in-activity on his end.
Does anyone know the current personal status of Craig Bliss ?

Re: GE 44ton locomotive project update
Hi,
I built a 44 tonner about 15 years ago. I have some 1½ inch scale plans that might be useful.

Grizzly by far. The green models are the cheapest and they are of fair quality. The beige color machines are heavier and of better quality. You could put them in a shop setting and probably not get too many complaints. Their South Bend machines are the best of their line. In all cases, if you are go...

Re: Santa Fe 3460 series Hudson tender trucks
Hi, The ATSF 3463, on display in Topeka, has 6 wheels trucks that were manufactured by Commonwealth, but they are not what we so universally call "Commonwealth" trucks. They are General Steel Castings style 51092 six wheel tender trucks. ATSF chose to use a Pullman designed suspension with...

If you are willing to work with scans of original NYC drawings, check out the NYC Historical & Technical Society web site. They sell small drawing sets for $45 and large drawing sets for $90. The set size is based on quantity, not size. Typically these drawings are at 1/8 of full size. For other...

Re: typical rail loading weights?
Dear nameless, Generally speaking 1 inch tall aluminum, be it east coast or west coast, is about the same. What is important is that the is heat treated to preferably T6 level. Again generally speaking it is strong enough for 1.5 or 1.6 scale locos. Wheel profile is important too. If you plan on run...
