I've picked up a 9" smart and brown sabel lathe that came with a rough looking 1/2hp 3 phase motor. I don't have a 3 phase supply so i need to change the motor. I do have a 320 watt single i could fit but would it have enough grunt? Does more power actually equal more cutting ability, or is it...

Back to the 19th century with insulation made out of plant materials. That stuff will degrade over time even without mice chewing on it.
