Re: 482 night run
If he is firing with char, that might explain the meteor shower. We had a member who used that for a time and burned a bunch of holes in my pop-up canopy just steaming up! Could just be a serious drafting loco!

I like it! I built two very similar last year and I think your price is reasonable if not too cheap! It all depends on the quality of the plywood.

Places or people to visit in Germany in February
I am traveling to Germany in the 2nd week of Feb. 4th-9th for work. I will be in Kleinostheim/Hanau/Frankfurt area. I will have training all day long, but should have most evenings free. Is there any places or people with whom I can visit (full size, Live Steam, Stationary etc.) with during that tim...

Re: Video question, where to mount a propane control valve
I burn coal in my Allen 10-Wheeler, but I used 1/4" copper for the blower since I had fittings and tubing that size. What matters is the size of the holes you put in it. I did mine to print and I have plenty of capacity for most any situation.

Re: Rebuild of an Allen Mogul.
I knew a guy that got burned from the aluminum petticoat melting on a Allen 10-wheeler. It was shooting out the stack with each exhaust beat! He was running a crazy pressurized kerosene/diesel fuel system and as mentioned, I believe that the fire in the firebox wasn't the only one!

Re: Rebuild of an Allen Mogul.
My vote is that since it appears that you have to replace the stack, make a new petticoat and blast pipe that attaches inside the new stack and re-use the smokebox half. The aluminum castings may have had some porosity, but the bottom line is that they were melted away from the heat. The peticaot co...

Looks like fun. Is that your Shenwai lathe in the background? I picked one of those up a number of years ago and have built many parts on it.

Re: Steam down in the Atlanta Georgia Area?
Adam, I got your message. Will Do. It's been a couple years since I have been to the SERM, but I know they have some really nice exhibits (including S&A 750) that are inside and well preserved as well a yard full of equipment. There is a short train ride (diesel) on the museum grounds and a dece...

Re: Steam down in the Atlanta Georgia Area?
APM,
At NGLS, we are planning a club run day/fun day on that Saturday the 4th. We would be happy to have you come by if you have time. PM me as it gets closer and I will keep you in the loop for whatever the plan ends up being.
Thanks,
Peter Craymer
