Just had a thought. Is that center slot a T-slot? This may work like many of the jewelers lathes.

Re: Help Identify Fowler Lathe part
This may very well have been some sort of metrology device. Try contacting the Fowler Co. in he North East. They may have a history that includes this piece.

Oh my! If you were in France you would understand my description fine. However, for the rest of us that should be 0-4-0 + 0-4-0.

A real challenge would be to build a Garrett. There is a 0-2-0+0-2-0 Garrett under construction in Texas in 1.6" scale. The Garrett was doing its best on poorly built light rail with very sharp curves. One exception was the Dargeling Garrett was a not so hot solution for them. Almost all Garret...

Re: Radius for Allen Mogul?
Long ago at LALS we had a trash siding the came off the track between the Webb yard and the drive way. It also had a air operated experimental switch operation. RRSC brought over their company CP 173 to test if it would navigate that sharp a curve. It did with one small problem. The corners of the t...

Stuart-Turner has always had similar brass oil cups for sale in several sizes. If I remember correctly they use ME threads. Do a Google and find the new owners, the foundry that has made the castings for years.

We had ground squirrels and rats eating our aluminum rail at Los Angeles Live Steamers in Griffith Park, Los Angeles. When we installed replacement steel rails for the 7 1/2" gage track that ended the problem there. However, we still have aluminum on the 4 3/4" and 3 1/2" gages. From ...

That is one fine piece of sound switch. I find it interesting that we have similar music tastes. I to like all of Brubeck's work and I agree about Paul. My classic likes are very broad and there isn't much I can't listen to. I have to be in a very receptive mood listen to opera though. When I was wo...

It just occurred to me that the RRSC patterns came from someone in Chicago.

Re: New York Central Baggage Car
Hello Jack, Nice work as usual. Do you suppose the part kit you have for the trucks are/were from RRSC. The horn blocks and the cast aluminum frames do look a lot like RRSC product. Also I see that you are a believer that you can never have too many clamps. Also as to air transport for locomotives, ...

I believe that the blind drivers had the same tread taper as the flanged drivers. I believe that it helps centering.

Note that none of the slots go thru to the bottom alternately like the ER series. This is probably not a collet.
