Re: Quality Pegboard Hooks
It's a giant country, and divided into sections like Hunger Games. It's my least favorite place I fly into discounting Hong Kong which is relatively untouched. Shanghai has high speed bullet trains and a healthy middle class, while in Wuhan, the ground handlers think nothing of urinating in public, ...

Re: Hello, I am new here and am trying to build an Atlantic without a metal lathe.
Building a locomotive without a lathe and mill makes no practical sense. Both those pieces of equipment are cheap compared to a locomotive. If you don't have space for those items, then you don't have space for a 1.5" steamer. You might be better served with Gauge 1 live steam and just buying a...

Re: Electronic Leadscrews?
Hmmm, that's something I didn't know that it wasn't set up to do imperial thread pitches so thanks Will. Seems strangely lacking to not have a system capable of either. I'd have very little need for nor would I want a metric only system. I haven't seen his article on it, but was it done analog styl...

Re: ABOM sized lathe
I thought the battleship guns were made in a vertical lathe that was mostly beneath ground level, to avoid the problems with extreme lengths and gravity

Any of you ever hear of “Tire Ject”? I’m going to use it on all of my problematic tires.

That's precisely how soft jaws can and should be used. And, if the item you will grip is fragile, you make the jaws wider, so you distribute clamping force over a larger area. They can approach 360° of contact, allowing only enough clearance for the jaws to open and close. Extremely thin walled obj...
