2005 Ford power stroke

I need some opinions I have a 2005 Ford f250 powerstroke .. it's the 6.0 motor . With what I am assuming is either a blown head gasket or a bad head . I bought the truck at an estate sale 10 years ago when it was about a year old and only gave about 20% of what the truck cost when new so it doesn't ...

Re: Improve on my design

When I was is boy scouts I went to summer camp one year and they had bsa .22's we used to get a marksmanship merit badge . I spent most of the week there . Somewhere in my stash I have most of a .310 cadet waiting to be brought back into shooting condition. The action itself is in good condition. Bu...

Re: Improve on my design

earl i have had the fore-stock off , and while its been to long to remember the exact results . i do remember it was still shooting off the non-adjustable factory sights . at the time i considered bending the barrel . then as it is now actually attempting to is a scary thought . while the barrel is ...

Re: Improve on my design

I'd say the barrel is reasonably straight , once I got the sight on there was no arguing with how well it shoots so even if there is a slight bend in it .. it's staying . I am more inclined to think the reason it doesn't shoot to the factory sights is there is a good chance the stock has moved over ...

Re: Improve on my design

I did try a u shaped mount like you described with a williams sight two or three years ago . The problem I ran into was that without drilling and tapping a third mounting hole on the back of the receiver I couldn't keep the thing stable under recoil without over tightening the bolt threw the hinge p...

Improve on my design

It's March , spring is just around the corner and I start getting anxious for some suitable weather for shooting . So this morning I started digging threw the safe daydreaming about sunny days and clouds of black powder smoke . And it brought me back to a previously completed project that I'd like t...

Re: Break-top Revolver hinge

I think everyone is to busy thinking machine tools and getting off track .
I would lay my money on a hand tool of some sort utilizing the hinge pin holes after reaming to finish the casting .

1870'S ... machine tools are expensive . Labor is cheap

Re: Klopp shapers

Another shaper aficionado, never seen one first hand either but they look to be very well built machines . As to the drive ... from what I can see on other klopp pictures it's nothing more then a simple friction drive . Which should be rather problem free . If the price is right and the machines in ...

Re: Can't hold tolerance with finish cuts

Thank you Pete .
I have a lot clearer picture on what all is going now . Plus it always nice to find out I wasn't completely wrong . Even if I wasn't exactly right in how I came to the conclusion

Re: Can't hold tolerance with finish cuts

Like a lot of you here I don't have a lot of experience with machine tools , so I follow these threads to glean all I can in case I ever have a similar problem of my own . In this case I became interested enough to search and find an exploded parts diAgram of this machines cross slide assembly so I ...

Anyone have a tool grinder

Is there anyone with a tool grinder here who might be interested in grinding me a couple shaper tools . In the near future I will have need for a dovetail cutter and a couple key way cutters ( 1/4 and 3/8 ) I'd like a rougher and finish tool ground on each key way cutter I've tried a few times to ge...

Re: Quick change tool holder modification.

Been there as well ... but I made a switch to using round shank boring bars and aloris style holders when possible instead of the turn/face/bore style like your using and the problem went away . Surface finishes also vastly improved with the switch , my experience has been that the more surface area...
