OK, I finally saw that at the top of the page...that will work for my purposes. still can't find the one you mentioned at the bottom, Harold, but thanks for the reply. I can get by, maybe even better, 'cause it's sometimes 25 hr. before I get back to it...

"Last 24 hrs." button?
I always used the digest format to see messages posted on all forums in the last 24 hr. Where is that now? I hope it's not gone...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet
Yup, I've seen those little rounded off hunks-we used to call pistons like that "ant farms"...I have a collection of interesting pistons I've kept over the years. Ant farms, valves imbedded in the piston, pistons melted down to the top ring, etc...no big ones like you decribe, though-pity....

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet
Well, Jesse, if it was a farm tractor engine, I'd blame the shattered top rings on an overdose of ether...farmers really like that stuff...I've seen a lot of top rings broken into little chunks in John Deere & IH engines...or else putting a load on the engine w/o warmup. Neither of those scenari...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet
Jesse, I would love to hear that sound too-big ol' Diesels are just cool, that's all. I know how tough an idle hunt can be to tune out. I once took care of a 16V71 Detroit on a genset that had an idle roll you couldn't get rid of-good thing was that it didn't have to idle much-mostly warmup, or occa...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet
Whenever the speed of a Diesel overrides the set idle speed, (deceleration), the governor, which is actually a computer on the new engines, shuts the fuel completely off, until the speed drops to the idle speed, then it picks up & gives it enough fuel to maintain idle. The only way a diesel CAN ...

Re: Hurricane and Live Steamers and MSLS Meet
srrl5, you must have the bad luck to get behind a bad Diesel every day-it's not Diesel fumes that are choking you. A Diesel engine under deceleration conditions is injecting NO fuel into the cylinders. The smoke you see & smell is prob. lube oil being drawn past worn rings or valve guides, or ma...

Re: Who are the players in the machinery market?
The Bridgeport is the "standard" for milling machines. In fact, most if not all of the Taiwan & Chicom machines are a deadass clone of the BP. Matter of fact, my mill is a genuine BP head on a Taiwan body...I didn't catch that until I got it home, it was in kind of a dark old barn, &am...

B/P quill DRO
Can anyone tell me or post a pic of a good way to mount one of the quill DRO units on a Bridgeport J-head? I recently bought one off Fleabay, needing to use up my Paypal credit for the Blake co-ax fiasco-but that's another story...the "mounting bracket" that came with this thing doesn't re...
