Re: Stolen Locomotive Parts Recovered
Yes, these were castings from Seymour Johnson's spectacular 3" scale 15" gauge NYC Hudson. The thief did not try and take the main frames or the 20"+ diameter driver castings as those are very large pieces that would probably take 2 or more guys to manhandle and are not bronze. Rob Ga...

Re: Building the Frisco 1522
Jerome,
Thanks for the response and the link! Checked out your site. Love it! Can't wait to see you get back on it soon.
I'll see if I can print the erecting card at work on 11"x17" format. Thank you so very much.

Searching for Santa Fe Erection Drawings - 4101 Class Berk
All,
Can anyone point me in the direction of where I might find the Santa Fe's steam era technical drawings? In particular, looking for the erection drawings for the 4101 Class 2-8-4's.
Thanks,
Rob Gardner

I think Dan posts exclusively on various FB live steam groups only these days. Don't know why he abandoned this thread on Chaski.

Re: Ben Hammer!!! 1/3rd scale 4-4-0
Glenn, I recognized the photo of the 4-4-0 on the turntable with the red roundhouse in the background. There is a very private 15" gauge railroad near Seattle, I believe. The property is known as Celadon. It's an estate/private event center. Have not been able to find out much about it, but I s...

Re: rare
This is a 2-1/4" scale scratchbuilt model of a NYC J-1 Hudson. I believe it is 10-1/2" or 10-1/4" gauge. There has been some chatter as of late on a couple of live steam FB pages and I do recall this engine being featured in Live Steam magazine back in the early 70's I believe. The lo...

Looks like the classic AHM HO Scale bobber caboose that my dad had when I first became aware of model trains at a very young age.

"Modeling"/"Weathering" Live Steam Rail and Ties
I'm getting very close to starting construction of a 1" scale, 4-3/4" gauge track at my house. I must have a lot of time on my hands as I have found myself contemplating 1. Staining the ground-contact-treated ties to a dark color to simulate creosote and 2. Priming and painting the new alu...
