Harold's Haas

I spent the day with Harold V today helping him get started using his Haas TM-1 CNC mill. It went very smooth and we had no crashes or damaged tooling, Harold was a great student. We had a good time and got some parts finished. I snapped some pictures, http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c10/mahockett...

I have a Glacern 6" reversed jaw vise. I use it on my CNC mills doing production work and it is holding up great. I'm going to order some 4" double vises soon. I would not recommend a reverse jaw vise for use on Bridgeport type knee mills as it will hit the column, but the standard vises w...

Funny thing, a friend of mine has one of those in his hobby shop, it wouldn't fit in his garage. The one he has is a DMG 5 axis and he had to pour a 15" slab to set it on. It cost him $250K new plus over $20K for the software to run it. He is retired and just plays with it. He also has a brand ...

Is there any way you can return the mic to the seller for a refund or credit? Electronic Starrett stuff is terrible. I bought the same mic and within a week it was having problems. That along with the slow display response I was not happy with it. I sent it back to Enco and had them send me a Mituto...

Dave, On that lathe I would stick with a 6" chuck. An 8" will work but when you look at the spindle bore and the realistic working diameter of that lathe the 6" makes sense. You want a chuck that has a bore equal to or greater than the spindle bore on the lathe. The 6" will have ...

Welcome to the forum! There are many here who enjoy live steam locomotives so you should fit right in. the Bay Area has a great live steam club , Golden Gate Live Steamers, and track in Tilden Regional Park.

4" Kurt vises FS

I was talking to a friend of mine today and he recently got a bunch of 4" Kurt vises and wanted to sell them. He has 7 for sale. If anyone is looking for a 4" Kurt he wants around $200 each depending on the condition.
PM me for the contact info if interested.

I don't know about the Mitutoyo control but my Milltronics machine homes itself when the home button is pressed, so I have never had it exceed the limit switches. My machine lives in the corner of the shop and I have about 10" to the wall on each side when the table is in full X positive or X n...

Marty, I have a Milltronics version of the 10X50 CNC knee mill in a corner of my shop (garage). I don't have any measurements but I can get them sometime today. I don't know how your machine works but on mine the X home position is at the max positive position on the X axis which means the table tra...

The HF Parallels are decent, I have a couple of sets that I use on my CNC equipment and they are very accurate. Making parallels is not difficult, even the Chinese can get it right.
