Old cement mixer find.
I came across a CL ad for this old 40s-50s small batch mixer. Pre Redi-Mix truck days. 00d0d_e7kZiM4yN3F_600x450.jpg The seller has only had it for a brief time. Just long enough to pour footing for a couple buildings. His site was too steep for Redi-Mix truck to get in. No name or label plate data ...

Hobart TR-300 AC/DC Welder w/HF Arc Stabilizer?
Does anyone have any experience with or opinions about this machine?? I found this machine at an auction site and am wondering about it's capabilities. I'm new to Tig work and hopefully to start doing some aluminum. I have a Miller Econo Twin HF but don't think is will give the the frequency control...

Re: Miller 330 A/B or A/BP difference?
Yah! I went to the Miller site and tried looking up this machine (not an ebay action) and the manuals listed are as you stated.
I will contact the auction person and ask for model number clearification or the SN, since Miller search prefers the this since the 330 had many changes over time.

Miller 330 A/B or A/BP difference?
Looking at the A/B at an auction site and it doesn't mention the "P" and no one knows? All of those listed on ebay are the A/BP models. I don't see any difference in the front panel controls.
Just what is the functional difference between these two models.
Thanks
Steve

Miller Econo Twin HF
I have had this machine for a number of years and used it primarily for Tig of steel and stainless. Very basic machine for that purpose. Now I want to tig aluminum and I'm told I need some method of control of the start and finish of my weld. "Soft Arc" is a term that I have heard. Does th...

Re: Sight Feed Generator Co. carbide generator
Looking at these suppliers grade descriptions causes some concerns. "consistency of ground coffee" is not specific enough for the Sight Feed system requirements (as warned) it must be 14 ND (No Dust) to prevent over feeding. As I enlarge the picture of this "fine" consistency of ...

Re: Sight Feed Generator Co. carbide generator
I have researched the sources for carbide and it all seem to come from China or there about's. It is not so much the price but the quantities they are dealing in are on a commercial scale. Nothing for the little guy and the only US based vendors sell for Caver lanterns and it is too fine for the sho...

Re: Milling Machine: Bridgeport BR2JPFLC up for auction
This auction closed yesterday, 22nd at $1635.00 and that seems to be about right as compared to the Clausing lathe in my other post.
The bidding was slow in the last 4 or so hour and only advances slightly at the end.
Someone got a nice machine for the price. My opinion FWIW

Re: Metal Lathe: Clausing Colchester 15 up for Auction
Well, finally report on this auction: Sold yesterday, 23rd for $3,075.00 I know the Clausing Colchester is a great machine. Those last 3 bidders, must feel that there is still something under all that rust. The ran the bidding from $1255 to $3,075 in final 2 hours of bidding. I hope they show...

Re: Connecticut mod. #4922 Brake
I finally got the base frame widened for this brake. I found these cast iron end frames in the scrap metal pile when were were wrapping up my machinist friends estate. I couldn't see any immediate need for them but could see their eventual potential in my shop. 20140722_130959x.jpg This first pictur...

Re: Connecticut mod. #4922 Brake
I just went and picked up this auction win from a small school district shop in Entiat WA and found it to be from the school shop program (discontinued) :( . Well made and maintained condition. A set of 2",3" and 4" fingers. Only one had a "buggered-up" edge. Whole unit is a...

Re: Metal Lathe: Clausing Colchester 15 up for Auction
I went and looked this lathe over at the auction warehouse and it is as bad as it looks. The rust is not a light film. It has been setting out for some time. Will require some major scrapping of the ways. Nothing is frozen but I didn't advance the carriage or cross feeds since that could cause furth...
