I prefer to wear leather shoes. Ideally without laces (such as wellington boots). Less chance of flaming feet that way.

I bought some of the Kent Bolerjack gladhands, I have not put them on a car yet but have done some testing with compressed air. A small amount of oil does help, but they seal nicely at my test pressure of 50psi and will disconnect readily if you pull on them whether pressurized or not. My intention ...

If you can manage the distance, the museum in Sinsheim is well worth the trip. https://sinsheim.technik-museum.de/en/ Is isn't strictly steam, but there is a lot of steam there - and it is INDOORS, which can be important in February. I suspect if they're HSS, it would be relatively easy to use the shank portion as a round lathe tool after a bit of grinding.
