Re: Help with pipe connection & terminology

When I come to problems like this and sourcing the right part is a problem or it takes too much of an effort, I am quick to go the route of using the machines I have to thread, rethread, turn, bore out or silver solder the pieces together. As a matter of fact, I was in a similar predicament 20 minut...

Re: Broken Taps

Just an idea. Since is a through hole, I would cut indentation on the tip of a dowel. As many indentations as the No of flutes and try to drive the tap out from the back. Less risk to bugger the hole.

Re: Discouraged!

Harold a few comments on the nomenclator. What you call a doughnut (the one skewered by the big thick wire) is a Current Transformer. Is just a special transformer designed to have an output proportional to the current passing into the single wire. Is a safer method to provide a Shunt since it also ...

Re: Discouraged!

I am an electrical engineer, but the field is so vast I have no more that general knowledge outside my field of specialization. Is interesting that for some reason Lagging phase is to be avoided as destructive to the generator. If the current Lags the Voltage the load is seen as Inductive, meaning m...

Re: Discouraged!

Why one need a KWAR meter to safely run a rotating generator?
I assume KVAR means Kilo Volt Amper Reactive
A generator is limited by VoltxAmpere which is called Apparent power.

Re: 5c or er40 collets?

If you work both in metric and imperial and then some dimension that is neither You need a huge number of 5C collets.
I love my ER set. Use it with drill bits too, my Jacob chuck is gathering dust.

Re: Mitutoyo Digital Caliper

After dead batteries and one that require constant zero (it comes to life with 0.439) I switched to vernier type. I made a living in electronic but I am not a fan of commercial electronic.
