"Lastly, only Niagara-LaSalle makes genuine Stressproof. Stressproof starts out as C1144, but C1144 is not Stressproof. Keep that in mind if you decide to go that route so you don't get sold the wrong material."
I didn't know this...so is there a good source for the "real stuff"?

Re: Brass vs steel
RussN,
You are lucky with the Locoparts kits...I can't get a reply from them about a kit for my tender which I would love to send them money for! I will have to make one of my own and brass will be my choice, despite the cost.

Re: Info request, Friends Hudson tender bottom
Steamin,
This is EXACTLY what I wanted, thanks! Just for the heck of it I looked at online metals, a 12" x 36" .25 brass plate is $354. Plus shipping is probably a good chunk too!
Again, thanks for the pics, just what I wanted to see.

Re: Info request, Friends Hudson tender bottom
John,
I never heard from anyone. I will have to fab one. I have the prototype drawings, I simply wanted to see what the casting looks like from all sides to give me an idea.

Re: Info request, Friends Hudson tender bottom
Cobalt drills work great, we drill tons of 304 at work with them. Today however I have to try and remove a broken 0-80 tap in a blind hole in a piece of titanium that has about 40 hours of machine work in it!
