Re: 1.6" and 2.5" Safeties Expected Late June - Preorders Available

To add to that, a notable number of people have asked which pipe size they should use if they haven’t tapped their steam dome yet. It really does not matter and is entirely a matter of preference. The hole through the center of the adapter is the same diameter on every size, and the pipe thread has ...

1.6" safeties have the option of 1/8" or 1/4"
2.5" are 1/4" or 3/8"

Re: 1.6" and 2.5" Safeties Expected Late June - Preorders Available

Safety valve project is nearly complete. All that’s left to do is square up the springs and finish the boiler adapters. I expect to start shipping valves next week after 4th of July. Now would be a good time to order if you’re interested! https://www.eccentricengineer.com/safety-valves IMG_9939.jpeg

Re: Snifter valves and cylinder lubricator hardware vendors?

Just FYI, I'm working on making straight and angled check valves in 5/16, 1/4, 3/16, 5/32, and 1/8 MTP. Hope to have them ready by August.

Re: Who makes "snap on-off" valves?

Will EE have the injector starting valves in stock any time soon? I hope to make more sooner rather than later. My plate is pretty full at the moment though! I will also be looking into making a 1/4 turn injector starting globe valve to go along with the globe valve project. It would be a standard ...

Re: Who makes "snap on-off" valves?

Personally I would highly recommend a 1/4 turn valve over a quick on/off valve. They are just as fast to operate, but can still be cracked open which helps with priming in less desirable scenarios, like a leaky check valve or hot feedwater.

Re: A good reliable injector for inch & half scale that works ????

Hi Fender If this is a superscale injector, where is this washer located, and how should it be facing. Maybe that is also the problem. The locomotive I am talking about, was build by WLS member Don Cornell, and 0-4-2 the Locomotive has side water tanks, no Tender. As I said I will post photos of th...

Re: A good reliable injector for inch & half scale that works ????

Not starting until 60psi is most likely due to a very minuscule air leak between the water valve and injector. Air leak symptoms typically improve at higher pressure rather than worsen. However, cutting out at 80psi is a bit more unusual. The only things that could cause this in order of likelihood ...

Re: A good reliable injector for inch & half scale that works ????

If the injector on there is truly a SuperScale injector it should work fine from 40-150psi. If it’s only working from 60-80psi then there is a problem somewhere somehow with the installation.

Re: Nathan double top check boiler feed valve

So why does the feedwater heater take a different check than the injector? The pump side is a bit more complicated to help reduce losses from the repeated hammering of the check valve. Larger diameter, less valve lift, a longer valve guide, and a spring all help reduce losses every time the valve c...
