Re: Losing the battle with parting tools
Yes, I'm still using it. Don't have a use for it often, but works well enough for what it is. I have managed to rip out two of the carbides on some rough steel so now I sharpen/grind them down till they are supported/flush with the steel blade.

Re: How Thick is a 1/2" Bolt (Used to Secure Grant's Tomb)
In your case, Just a guess but most bolts today are made by "rolling" the thread into the surface with a sharp rotary blade-s (like in a tubing cutter) which results in the metal being displaced outwards as well as cut into rather than the old method of cutting with a die or lathe/screw ma...

Re: 3 in 1
Yeah.. Unless this is for a business and U need the best, don't worry about the doomsayers . U have a certain amount of space and money and can live with it. There are limitations to any tool you use, and of course there is always a better one somewhere. U will learn what to do and what not, and how...

Re: Rust removal
I have always used muriatic acid for rust removal as long as the items are not very thin or small. As I understand it, the hydrogen effect is very thin, does not go more than a few molecules deep, so doesn't compromise strength. Never heard of "baking" the H out, but sounds good. As to dis...

I second that. The local outlet for Bearings inc. closed some time ago, but they had always been able to get the unobtainable for me.

Re: Polyurethane Air Hose Unreliable?
What to we mean by polyethylene hose? Is this a fabric inlaid line or a solid plastic line like the PEX tubing available for water etc at home supply stores? If it's related to that pex, it is extremely sensitive to the uv light in sunlight even florescent shop lights. Any exposure may be too much. ...
