Re: Nathan double top check boiler feed valve
the idea with the top-feed check valves was to feed the water into a perforated trough above the water line, so the incoming water would be heated by steam, rather than mixing cold water into the hot water in the boiler. I know that EE was talking about producing them, but I had thought they said t...

Re: 1.6" and 2.5" Safety valves?
A few answers to questions that have been asked elsewhere: - These will be offered up to 160psi max. - 1/8" and 1/4" NPT adapters will be available for 1.6". - 1/4" and 3/8" NPT for 2.5" scale. - The 1.6" valve will be approximate in flowrate to SuperScale - The 2....

1.6" and 2.5" Safety valves?
Working on prototyping the 1.6" and 2.5" safety valves and need to get some solid numbers of interested folks so I can plan for how many to make. These will be unlike anything offered before. All the internal components (including the valve seat) will be 17-4ph stainless steel. The valve a...

Re: "Free Flow" boiler check valves from EE
Update on this project. It's... expanded. To say the least. Check valves and globe valves in 5/16", 1/4", 3/16", 5/32" and 1/8" MTP. 5/32" and 1/8" share the same body. With the project's larger scope it will take a bit longer to get this underway, but I feel its s...

That quadrant really pops after painting!
One small detail, the position name plate looks to have been reinstalled backwards.

Re: 1” USRA Light Mikado
If I remember correctly I had my 1.6” SP 0-6-0 drivers quoted at $12,000 when I sent in just the driver files. When I sent them the completed mold files it was $900.

Re: 1” USRA Light Mikado
I investigated having the cylinders printed from sand and the casting poured for my 3" Berkshire project, sticker shock would be an understatment. I was quoted $16-20,000 for one casting. Nyle What did you submit to get your quote? If you leave any CAD work for them to do then the price is ast...

Re: 1” USRA Light Mikado
Anthony, what size can a guy realistically go up to lost wax casting cylinder halves? Have a 2.5” scale K27 underway as you might recall. Too big? Depends on the capabilities of the foundry. At that size I would look into having sand molds 3D printed and pouring them traditionally. I really should ...

Re: 1” USRA Light Mikado
that would be quite the game changer if patterns like that could be fairly easily and affordably made for one offs or twos etc. Just curious why use cylinder halves vs a single piece block? Much more manageable to cast, especially with the lost wax process. I got enough patterns to make 2 sets of c...

Re: 1” USRA Light Mikado
Short update. Hadn’t touched the mikado since April 2021, but I managed to find a couple days to work on it recently. I finished the grease cellars for the journal boxes and made the pins that hold them together, as well as the bearings. Also turned the axles from 1” ground 12L14 which made it a ver...
