Re: Trailing truck
Sandiapaul, Thank you for that link describing the construction of the B&M Berkshires :D The most important thought was regarding the excessive lateral forces to the far away frame end - and thus the locomotive  A calculation reveals the problem regarding the risk of derailing when working...

Hello BAdams,
Very nice indeed . Looking so fine when finished, well done!
Just to your information: In Europe we are using SS no. 1.4571 as best choose for vessels. Similar to US 316 Ti.
Best regards Asteamhead

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e
Hello Bill, absolutely possible using the classic worthington 2-cylinder design  Some time ago I thought about a small single action 3-cylinder design with piston water pump, which is the most simple construction to start from any position :) . Years ago I built such a steam engine of some big...

Hello Berkman, Thank you for your kind recognition! There was a time out on my project due to covid  and other drawbacks and prefering additional hobbys. But back in the race now, I will continue reporting some more details regarding the commonwealth tender trucks T 95. Several parts are finis...

Re: Nathan 4000C's in 1.5" Scale
Hello Anthony, Thank you for that impressive demonstration of your Nathan 4000! There is nothing more to be desired, just perfect :!: What I like specialy is your working single bar handle which allows to throttle down your injektor so easily! Hello Jack,
Remembers me of building the HT-Stoker engine for my A 1239!
Body made of brass, silver soldered. Easy access and ball bearings throughout to reduce maintainance
Carry on, we will watch!

Re: Head spacing or clearance
Agree! Changing of dimensions cold/warm, wear/backlash of main rod and -axle and movement up/down of the main drivers demand for sufficient space :!: Otherwise volume of "dead" space will used during expansion and help for smoother running due to reduced compression. Steam consumption of o...

Hello Rwilliams ,
You're right, the Teflon band is used as standard packing for stems. This makes aditional small disks made of brass or bronze mandatory to prevent the Teflon from creeping out of the package
And yes, the inner disk stops the bonnet, too.
Best regards

Hello my friends, Being still alive, in spite a long time out, just one last reply this year. Working at several different hobies during covid shutdown, I 'm back with the boogies type T 95 for my A. The good friend of mine R.P.S. did the CNC-milling of the frames cast of bronze :) . Thus I started ...
