Re: Steam Locomotive model drawings
Steve Vitkovits designed and had castings made for a light 2-8-2. Dick Thomas was also involved. The design was sold to Railroad Warehouse.

Was it Bob Maynard of the Cincinnati Cinder Sniffers who drew up the CliShay for Live Steam?

Re: Allen Mogul: Packing in saddle assembly?
Back around 1973 there was a discussion about whether packing the smokebox saddle would prevent the steam from losing a lot of heat. As I remember it didn't really matter. So clean it all out if you feel you have to for some reason. Otherwise leave it in since it isn't hurting anything.

Re: Blower Valve Vs Injector Steam Valve
A blower valve is usually an adjustable valve so that the blower can be regulated. An Injector valve can be like a blower valve but usually is either on or off. Most injector valves are a push-pull valve and are either on or off and can't be regulated like a screwed valve can.

Re: Cylinder Borning
In my mind, there is no point going out of your way to do the boring precise to plan. It really doesn't matter much since all can be corrected later. I have bored cylinders on the lathe both on the saddle and clamped on a four jaw. The finish is always rough and almost never to plan exactly. But lat...

Water gauge placement in a Briggs boiler
Other than placing the bottom fitting of the water gauge above the crown sheet, are there any considerations about how to plumb a water gauge into a Briggs type boiler? I've heard water gauges have accuracy problems due to boiling on the crown sheet.

Re: check valve
Do you need a check and shutoff for each pipe and both output into one, or can you just combine both inlets into one check and shutoff with one pipe out? Where would this valve sit - side of boiler or top delivery? What size inlet pipes? I'd guess 3/16" OD for 3/4 scale.

Re: Need source for graphited yarn for packing
I have a couple of boxes of the graphited string which may be asbestos since it is so old. It is the traditional stuff. Not worth as much for packing as the pure graphite tape which you can roll into a rope and wrap around a shaft. See McMaster 9481K11 for what we use at GGLS mostly. That said, if y...

Re: Ox Yoke™ Safety Chains
I don't think I would approve these for use at GGLS. We require the cars to be chained together, not the couplers.
