Ya know Mid Day, I would gladly do that for say my lathe or the milling machine but not this $20 garage sale find. Plus I see them on Craigslist all the time for $20 to $40. The local motor rewind shop charges a minimum of $85.
I gripe becuz this is the Junk drawer!!!

Re: triangle in a circle
Marv , I apologize, the measurement is 2.824 These calculators come up with 2.445 http://www.algebra.com/algebra/homework/Circles/length-of-equilateral-triangle-inscribed-in-the-circle.solver http://www.ajdesigner.com/phptriangle/equilateral_triangle_circumscribed_circle_radius_r.php Thanx everyone ...

Re: triangle in a circle
Thanx Fender, thats the way I am doing it and for some reason when I go to do the third mark its of by like .200 I started to think that my length that I used the calculator for was off. But then I checked with a second calculator that I found and it is correct. I guess I will just eye it in. Its no...

Re: triangle in a circle
Should point out that my diameter of the circle is 2.884 with a triangular spread at 2.445. I know I can do this by centering the cyclinder on my mill and using the DRO to place my marks however my center drill with the head raised all the way up is about a 1/8 of an inch above the workpiece. This m...

Re: machine breakdowns one after another
I tell you what the Crapsman are killing me. Yes they are old tools but now the 4x36 beltsander motor is taking a dive. And the motor is brand new just replaced it about 4 months ago. Just did a few sanding jobs and now its going out with grinding noises. I should also add that they don't make this ...

triangle in a circle
So the quill housing is almost done except I need to drill 6 holes 3 on top and 3 on the bottom and tapped. This will be the dust covers. My problem is I went to lay out the 3 holes preferably evenly spaced out. I found a calculator that tells you what the length are. But for the life of me I couldn...

Re: machine breakdowns one after another
Here's a pic Harold bandsaw.JPG The little piece of metal that I thought helped keep the blade down is actually just a guard. And I will probably just use some aluminum instead of the acetal. The bearings look like this bearing band.JPG so one bearing is like a regular bearing the other has a lip an...

Re: machine breakdowns one after another
Thanx Bob, but for that much money I would definitely just buy another bandsaw. And those are for vertical bandsaws( mine is a lil horizontal similar to the chinese 4x6 bandsaws).
I have tooled with the idea of making a bracket to hold a third bearing so that it keeps the blade from riding high.

Re: machine breakdowns one after another
Well ordered a new blade and I spotted what might have been the problem. Most bandsaws have a third bearing that the back side of the blade rides on. This one uses a piece of sheet metal with a slit in it that the blade rides inside of, I assume this keeps the blade from riding high up past the bear...
