Re: Small bolts

I have gotten some really good model bolts and nuts from MicroFasteners as well. Not knocking Wayne in ANY way (he is a great supplier), just giving another source.

Re: Alcalde & Coalfield High Line

Can't wait to put on my shirt and tie and run coal! I'm gonna have to adjust the Chiggen Little to run on a highline, but should be fun doing it!

Re: Driver wheels profile

It is based on track gauge, NOT scale. A 1.5" scale narrow gauge loco needs to be built to 4 3/4" gauge track and a 1.5" scale standard gauge engine is built for 7.XX track. The scale of the loco is irrelevant to the wheel profile.

It was Scale Railroad Supply out of Colorado, a different company from Railroad Supply. It was then sold to Lonnie and it is now 1" Scale Railroad Supply.

Re: Rare Bird Model Works, CA

I bought my fist live steam train kits from them, by the way. That was in 1987. A Maxitrak Congress and pair of 1" Railroad Supply (old Nelson Gray trucks). Taught me a lot about prepping and putting castings together as well as electrical work because back then you got a bag of parts nd had to...

Re: Rare Bird Model Works, CA

Vic, you are correct. All the Rare Bird products were for garden railways. they did a few items, including a neat little station and the windmill that Vic is talking bout (I still have mine). They stopped producing anything, well, gotta be 25 or more years now at the least. They also were a Maxitrak...

Re: WTB - Iron Pony 1" scale joint bars

That’s not the iron Pony rail, but as said already Culp
rail most likely.

I make joiners for the 5/8” rail, but to the Culp rail.

Re: Historic 1" live steam 1970's southern MN

I know I did not got to LALS this year due to the cost of fuel. Needed to save my pennies for the Carson City steamup. I wanted to go and had everything prepped in January, but diesel is just too darn much. St Croix is worth the drive at least once. I've been three times and can't wait to get back. ...

Modeltec did one for a 1" scale turn of the century boxcar. I think it was in the 90's.

Re: Locomotive built of wood

Here is the cab forward made of wood. It last ran in 1973 at the SVLS track in Sacramento. The rods, valve gear, and boiler shell are metal, everything else essentially is wood. Yep—wheels and frame included. And yes, it did run on steam. Art Buck built it. He then built a USRA mountain in all metal...
