Re: Prazi SD300 lathe lubrication
It is key part of the drive system. The motor drives the pulley via a V belt and that pulley, which spins on a stationary shaft, drives everything else. So I know that that pulley and shaft need lubrication. My question is how to lube them. If that sheave is acting as an idler, I suspect it's mount...

Re: Hauling your locomotive
I've always heard that torsion axles are a must on a tandem axles trailer, then sway control hitch will make towing long distances much more "pleasant" The tandem axle leaf spring vs. torsion suspension argument has been going on forever. In favor of using torsion suspension is the traile...

Re: motor size
Not only that, such a motor will be significantly more costly than a three-phase motor of the same power and will wallop the power line at startup.

Re: Another dumb INVERTER question
if you think that any type of speed reduction (like the variator) is not a torque increaser...you should stop and think again. That is correct. In any constant-horsepower situation, RPM and torque are inversely and exactly proportional. As some wiseguy once noted, use enough gears and you can get a...

Re: Another dumb INVERTER question
I have an old 3-phase motor lathe and a similar drillpress. I added a VFD for speed control. Both of these motors are physically big for their ratings, and really old. Motors have undergone several frame size revisions over the years. As the materials used to insulate the stator windings got better...

I didn't get the memo. I would have though Jen Carey would have announced something here.Chris Hollands wrote: ↑Sun Feb 07, 2021 5:03 pm David Bortz has Superscale now and has for about 2 years ?
Easy to deal with and still the same great products .

Re: 15kw gen bearing problem
I didn't find it easy at all. I tried several things that didn't work, the machine kept 'hunting', surging up and down. As an experiment, I used a "smart' regulator; a human. I told him to operate the fuel lever so as to keep the tachometer in a certain place; and he did, even as I welded with...

Jen Carey has not been on Chaski for nearly three years. No one seems to know what became of the deal to sell Superscale.

Re: 3 phase motor replacement
But I'm no fan of using set screws to retain any pulley. Yes they've been proven to work ok in most cases, there's just far better and more durable methods. The ideal way to retain anything on a shaft is with a split-taper bushing. Those things lock so tightly onto the shaft you can actually dispen...
