Jack:
Great looking light!
Howard Gorin, who is in the optical business as you know, has the equipment to make any size domed lenses. He made some for my Mars Light.

Re: construction drawings
Anyone know what happened to the AT&SF drawing collection of the late Dick Scholz of Chicago? Dick had many drawings for the 3460 class Hudsons and provided me with the 84" Baldwin Disc driver drawings when I made the patterns for those. Drawing #51-822 is listed as the tender elevation for...

The new station is being dedicated at noon on Friday. Jack Bodenmann will be there with some goodies to show. Barry Hauge of Superscale, Bill Donovan of Real Trains, and Howard Gorin from Massachusetts will be there with their displays. Dave Moore and Brad Bluth will have their displays on Saturday ...

An NKP Berkshire in Washington State
Here's a couple of photos showing the Berkshire that Ron Rees of Winlock, WA is building.

Re: Berkshire Construction Photos
Here's a couple more photos of Gene Lurwig's nice work. He now has all the attachment pads welded to the boiler.
Also attached are a couple of photos of Tom Lawson and I track testing a set of tender trucks, minus the brake rigging, that we machined for one of the Berkshire builders.

Matt: I knew your great uncle and spent some pleasurable Sunday afternoons at his corner house in Bakersfield, running the #24. Dick was a wonderful person and a most gracious host. I took slides and movies of these events. I too ran across the NYC 4-8-2 that he built when I visited the NYC museum. ...

Re: Berkshire Construction Photos
Dave: Glad to hear that your Berkshire is running well. I would expect that, as your dad is an experienced builder. It’s amazing how rumors and stories get going sometimes. If I remember correctly, your dad got the first set of frames that I cast for the Berkshire and was one of the people who convi...

Re: Berkshire Construction Photos
Rob: I don't know why that's the case. On the Berkshires that I've run out here, we can be running the locomotive, run appliances like the injectors, and still pop off if we want to. One guy actually complained about making too much steam after taking a public train around Riverside with Gil Beaird'...

David: That’s the cutout for the Dave Moore modeled Worthington feedwater heater, and the associated piping ditch. No one has made the heater itself work yet. It’s one of those things to experiment with in the future. We can’t make it an open type where the feed water mixes with the exhaust steam be...

Tim: Yes the boiler is one of mine. There are 48, ½” ID tubes. This has been the most popular tube configuration. They have been fired on both coal and oil. They steam very well. Gene and another builder plan on using propane. They have also been built with 37, 5/8” ID tubes and 28, .74” ID tubes. B...
