Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36
Hello Harold,
They were lost wax castings but poorly made. The area where the spring hanger fit was tight and narrow. The castings shrunk too much in that area.

Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36
I just finished making 12 of these spring hanger brackets. They are made of three separate pieces and silver soldered together. I had some castings of these parts but they weren't consistent, so I decided to make new ones. The second picture shows how it is used.

Re: Pyle National electrical boxes
Thanks for your help. I've got the prototype I can measure but it's 300 miles south of me and I really don't feel like leaving home with this pandemic out of control. These electrical boxes were on the rear of the tender and allowed marker lamps to be plugged into them when they were mounted. The te...

Pyle National electrical boxes
I am in search of information for these Pyle National electrical boxes. It looks like a typical four way box with a spring loaded lid cover. Does anyone have dimensional information on these boxes? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Share your special tools
Here are some photos of a tube bender I built to do the bends for plumbing on my locomotives. You need to make bending dies for each of the different size tube you want to bend. The dies have a half round milled into each half so the tube is supported around the whole diameter. This prevents collaps...

Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36
Thank you Jack for your kind words. Her are some photos of the #6 Distributor valve I've been working on. It will be located under the cab on the engineers side. It is quite the puzzle with many separate pieces soldered together.

Re: Carter Brothers link-pin couplers
Just a word of warning; The cast iron link and pin won't stand up to being used in service. They will break due to the nature of the material.

Re: 3/4" Scale J1e
Neat little details. It all adds up to make a very smart looking model. The lever is something I usually machine out of solid because soldering three pieces together it sometimes ends up not lining up perfectly, at least for me. It's tricky getting things to stay in position with out sucking a lot o...
