Re: Steel Grab Irons

If you are happy with 3/16 size rod, you may want to consider the .175 steel rod stock that is the wire that are the bases for many of the political signs. This wire is soft and bends well. And knowing that most of us would rather recycle rather than lay out real cash for materials, it's a cheap sou...

Re: Steel Grab Irons

Tim, October 1987 Live Steam had an article about how to make the six bend handrails that you are asking about. I make my own using some commercial press brake tooling. It's a 10 step process. I use 3/32 copper clad steel welding rods. This is available from most local welding supply houses. The las...

Re: Alco drawings

Hi, Like Dan said, probably your best bet is the C&O Historical Society - COHS.ORG - Clifton Forge, VA - 540-862-2210 They are well organized and have a paid staff. The drawings are also priced like they have a paid staff. They specialize in C&O, and have known to sell off non C&O drawin...

Re: DRIVER PRINT ?????

Dave

The drawings say there were 4 of these wheels per locomotive. The R-1 has 8 driver wheels. It would appear to have been from a smaller loco with a quill drive.Maybe an O1?

Re: Rock Island 90000 Series Flatcar Info?

Don, This car was manufactured in the ACF plant in Detriot in 1922. It was ACF lot number 9538. The lot was for a quantity of 250 - 50 ton flat cars. The decks were 53ft6inches long. The coupled length was 57ft0inches. The cars were shown to have been rebuilt by the RR in 1937,1938, 1940 & 1941 ...

Re: What details do you want to see made avaliable?

Dan, Some freight car details for 1.5 - 1.6 inch scale freight cars would be nice. Apex open bar grate roof walk is number one. NONE of the scale car manufacturers have anything that is even close. We definitely need the 1928 to 1992 version of the Ajax Brake wheel with the little extra internal pro...

Re: KB brake cylinders

The kind folks at Flashers R Us offer resin cast reservoir for an AB brake system http://www.flashersrus.com/main.html Howard Gorin has a modern freight car air brake cylinder - 607-434-0139 An older cylinder would look better - the type with a bolt on covers. Maybe you could find someone with a sin...

Re: SW1200 Drawings

Dave, Several things are against you. EMD drawings are more difficult to come by than a lot of others. Second, as referenced by others, over the years mods in design took place. Then there are the unknowns like frame twisting and the like. If I were in your shoes, I'd remove the hood, the 567 and ge...
