Re: Hip replacement

Bill, I would say 100% that I wish I had not waited this long. I am glad we are through the covid thing as it may have been considered an elective surgery. I was diagnosed with a muscle issue in my leg with no pain whatsoever in my hip. Only after the physical therapist started working the muscle di...

Three days till a new hip. Tired of walker and continual pain.

I am told by the surgeon it will be 4-5 hours from arrival to release. Anyone had any experiences along this line?

Re: Another newbie question about buying a used lathe

On a scale of 0-100 where a 1 is I want something that rotates and a 100 is Harold, I am I would guess at 10. That said, what are you planning on using this machine for? My old Enco makes farm stuff all day long but if I bid a job for NASA, the QC guy would have to stop laughing to breathe if he saw...

Re: Welding after getting a pacemaker

I looked into this some for a friend who recently had one implanted. He welds all the time so it was obviously a concern. To me it appears (my opinion as a 45 year EMT only here, and by no means a cardiologist) the major issue is not that it will cause the unit to misfire but that it can longer &quo...

Re: Happy Thanksgiving

Indeed. Our big day is tomorrow as in our home we frequently worked around my work schedule (FD never closes).
Today I spend the day on the excavator cleaning a 2500' drainage ditch, working up an appetite but the greatest thing about tomorrow is my grandkids are all coming over. :)

Re: Honing / reaming aluminum

I use a tool like this to remove rust/corrosion on the hub mounting surface, back side of rim and the center of rim. Basically any metal to metal surface. Frequently a small stiff wire brush is necessary to clean between the stud and center where this tool will not reach. https://www.amazon.com/OEMT...

Re: Air compressor oil

I would think any WOG rated gauge would work. Is your intention to plug the compressed air inlet (No chance of water in the compressor) and then pressurize the tank? If you were to use a pressure washer to do the test you likely will need some amount of air space in the tank so that you do not insta...

Re: Air compressor oil

With a "Low Side" pressure of 120 and a "High Side" of 175 PSI it seems like it was a refrigerant compressor with "charge" pressure. As Bill said though, a compressor is a compressor though. The picture looks a little like twin cylinders. If I were using it, I would be ...

Re: Jet 1236 lathe

If you have an air compressor get one of these. They work well for changing all sorts of fluids. I use it for brake master cylinders, power steering reservoirs, gear boxes with no drains, etc. And ya, on rare occasions brake bleeding.. :) https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive/auto-shop-tools/bra...
