Re: New G9729 - Some early issues.

No problem running the ShopTask models with the doors/hatches open as there are no electrical "interlocks." I did make and add table limit switches after the first time I used the power feed and it snapped the spline shaft when the scale on the table hit +4-1/2" even though the table ...

Re: Drilling Through Holes on the Mill

I just milled a through slot in a piece of copper strap. I first milled a piece of scrap wood to the same thickness as the width of the strap. Then I used double sided tape to secure the strap to the wood and placed the whole thing into the milling vice, (below the jaws) and milled down into the woo...

Re: What size milling vise for my Lathe/ Mill?

I use a 4" Shars. I paid $100. It is no KURT. There is a very slight difference in tightness from one side to the other (annoying), but perhaps a bit of sand paper tugged between the jaws could fix this.

Re: VFD to 2 motors

If the original poster isn't interested in the VFD, I would be. Steve I got a TECO JNEV-101-H1 brand new when I got my machine. But it doesn't have the capacity for my machine and has been on the shelf ever since. Is this something you could use? (1HP/750 Watt) Just like this one: https://dealersel...

Re: VFD to 2 motors

Should only need two contactors. Go on ebay and look for three pole contactors. Chinese pieces are <$10 each. American quality may cost a few dollars more. I can't imagine that you would need to switch more than 20 amps, but you can easily find them that can handle over twice this current. These are...

Re: VFD to 2 motors

After a bit of thought..., cheapest and easiest way to go with no concerns for power handling, because you can get big-azz contactors fairly cheap. Use two three pole contactors. They can be low voltage with a wall wart, or full 120 or 240 volt. Use a dpdt center off toggle switch to send power to w...

Re: Shoptask owners?

So glad it worked for you, and now I know that if I have the problem with mine, I can rectify it. You owe me a steak. ;)

I assume that you saw the threading instructions that I posted?

Re: VFD to 2 motors

Thanks. Any suggestions on a 3P2T switch? Don't use a switch. Use a 12 volt contactor and use a wall wart to switch that. That's how I did my table limit switches. In fact, I never switch the forward/reverse "on switch" for either the lathe or mill when live. I always leave the contactor ...
