ASR Reading 2100 Update

Folks, I know it's been a while since I've posted an update here on our progress on the Reading 2100 here in Cleveland. This winter we continue to make steady progress. We are less than $11,000.00 away from completing the firebox work and $900.00 away from having two brand new firedoors. To all our ...

Re: Last Run, Dr. Mark Bing, M.D.

Didn't I read once that Dr. Bing was responsible for buying/saving Frank Mann's ATSF 2-10-4 when Frank had to move back to the Houston area to take care of family or when he had taken ill himself some years ago?

Re: Building the Frisco 1522

Jerome,

Hope you are well. Any updates yet? Would love to get a copy of your erecting card of the 1500 actually for an HO project. Feel free to PM me regarding the drawing.

Re: In Memory of - Richard Ulin

I had the pleasure of meeting Richard twice at his home in Broomfield, CO. My aunt and uncle live just a few minutes from Richard and Linda. Richard told me that they were literally one of the first residents of the then-new community and county of Broomfield. Great guy. Still have his calendar and ...

Re: Great Model Railroads 2005

Marty,

Will the Trust also protect and preserve Jack's HO Layout, the A&GW? Only remember seeing one article about his model railroad once in MR and it was rather impressive.

Re: Nickel Plate 762

Regarding Larry Goldsby's C&O T-1 Texas, other than Jim's driver castings, Larry did make a lot of other patterns and cast a lot of parts but still fabricated much of the engine including the cylinders, cradle and trailing truck frame among others.

Re: 1" scale steam dome. Turret

Kimball,

The 1", 3/4" and 1/2" scale LE parts and inventory have been out of circulation for roughly 20 years now. No word if there is even a glimmer of hope of the smaller scale stuff ever being made available again right now.

Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36

Jeff, I take it on these outside frame NG engines, the counterweights are probably keyed and quartered very precisely to the axles but the wheels themselves are just pressed on the axles?

Thanks,

Re: 1.5" scale narrow gauge K-36

Maybe not more in shear number of patterns but they'll be on average a little bigger for a K36.

Jeff, very interesting to see the two vertical brake cylinders are mounted to the backside of the cylinder castings. Too cool. What parts are you going to tackle next? Main frames?

Re: ASR Major Corporate Sponsorship Announcement

Nyle, I certainly understand your concern with the wording. In practice, even at a local chemical refinery that my employer and I have worked in over the past few weeks, even their policy allows that if you can maintain 6' or more distancing from other workers, you don't HAVE to wear a mask. As far ...
