engin speed

Coal Miner, here is an other tip for you. set your no load engine speed at 3650 to 3700 rpm . this will let the gov droop so when at full load you should be at 59 cycles. your engine gov is probley only 10% regulated. so if you set it at 3600 (60cycles). then when loaded you would be way low in cycl...

coal miner, just a tip for you. that gen is a 2 pole gen which means you have to run it 3600 rpm for it to work right. you know 60 cycles 120/240 v
you would be better off with a short block, comes with the right govnnor parts.
I work for 30 years on small & large gen sets .

If you didn't know, put a bleeder tee in the drop tube if your return line goes down. This breaks the vac formed and will let the fluid drain faster. this just like the vent pipes in you house sinks, etc. make sure the vent is higher than the work.

I sleeved single cyl. eng. for years, the rule of thumb is .001" per inch of dia. of the cyl. this is for using cast sleeves. as for chrome cyl. the aircraft engines are allways chromed the finish looks like a cracked egg shell, to help hold oil. I know i had my Io540 lycoming chromed , this is...

Dave if that eddystone is a enfield action it is one of the strongest there is. you can get a barell for around 200 then you will have to cut sq. threads on the tennion, rent a 06, reamer to chamber the barrel. I don't know what is ment belled. but i dare say you can't streach a action. that is bull...

Greg, that's why I went to Ca. my self and loaded and trucked the mill home. Only I would be responable for any damage. We used pipe rollers to move it in the building, then Iused large pry bars ( bull pricks) to turn and spot the mill where it is now, all leveled and in use.

Mill

JOSE, I would but there is one problem, I built the room around the mill. the door is to small to let it out so I'll just have to keep it.
Frank, I'm past retiremsnt age, so when I can't do this anymore i'll probley give most of my stuff away.

First shots from my mortar

Well I finely got this project done. Me and my wife loaded it up and went and test fired it for the first time. The mortar ended up weighting 242#. then I add 4 bags of shot (100#) to it to help control recoil. All this weight made me put a hoist on my trailer so I can load and unload the mortar. He...

Dave, thanks for the comments, the rifle was one my dad had but I never seen him shoot it. now I know why, the barrel was rusted out, the receiver was so dirty you could not work it. I chambered a new barrel, draw filed the receiver. had to spot weld the mag tube , replace a lot of the screws. I'm g...
