Re: New to me Logan 11" model 1955
Hi, I took a look at my copy of the 1955H Parts List. The set screw at the top of the front piece of the apron locks a stub shaft that is part of the logitudinal/cross feed and threading selector gear system. Yup, you need it. That long SHCS is one of two that hold the front gib in place. The sadle ...

Re: New to me Logan 11" model 1955
If you haven't already done so get a copy of the Parts List soon. You will find that the set screw is needed - I just don't remember what it holds. It probably locks a shaft. Is that SHCS that seems to be causing the binding the one that pulls the carriage lock up against the bottom of the front gib...

Re: New to me Logan 11" model 1955
Here is something else to keep in mind about lube. I have a 1948 vintage Logan 821. It is in fairly good condition except for some very severe wear on the sliding surfaces under the ways. These are for the gibs that keep the saddle from rising when taking a cut. The wear on the top ways (not flame h...

Re: New to me Logan 11" model 1955
I have just run through these posts about your Logan Model 1955. Did you toss the data plate that was on the QCGB? If not, it will have the Model No. stamped on it. Look at that number and see if there is a H following 1955. If so you have flame hardended ways, a very good thing. Also if you look at...

Re: Small scales meet photos
More on Bruce Ward's locos. The 0-4-0T was built from scratch by Bruce. So far I haven't found any reference to it in his effects so I don't know when he started it nor when he finished it. We know it was built from English castings for a Julliette II. We have found the sets of prints for both the J...

Re: Small scales meet photos
I had a chat with Richard Farmer at this get together. The maroon English O-4-2T is a modified Ajax that was custom built for Mr. David Rose the composer and conductor. One of a great many steam engines of all types that were in his collection. If you note the steps at the cab door and how wide they...

Re: LOGAN Milling Machine???????
Hello All, I am new to this group/site. In scanning through the Milling Machine line I came accross this start stating that he had been offered a Logan Mill. He seems to have been offered a Lagun Mill which is Spanish and is of high quality. It is pronounce Lah goon (I think). Now come the info I ha...
