Re: Maximat Mill Problem
Hello Harold, First of all, thanks for your response! I think you are on the right track as the inch measurement is darn close to the 15mm (14.935mm) and I believe there is a bit of clearance designed into it. Same with the 1.5mm pitch: 25.4mm/16 = 1.5875 pitch, and the variance is likely due an err...

Maximat Mill Problem
Hello all, The attached mill on my Maximat V10P uses what appears to be an Acme threaded rod to raise and lower the mill head (Z axis) but the threaded nut that is in the head is stripped. the threaded rod is in good shape, so all that's needed is a new nut, probably of oilite or similar. The proble...

Re: Aciera F3, is it worth it?
Hello Paul,
Sorry you missed that one - it looks like a nice unit. Bigger than my Benchmaster, but not much, and of course, a lot smaller than a full-sized Bridgeport!
Keep your eyes open for Rusnok milling machines as well.
Best,
Mike

Re: maximat V10P value
Hello Gary, Not sure why you would need change gears - the V10P has the Norton Quick Change gearbox that can switch from one thread to another faster than it took to type this! You should make sure it's Imperial or Metric (dependent on what you will be cutting) as they were available either way. I h...

Re: benchmaster milling machines
Hello J.E. I have one of the Benchmaster vertical mills and had the exact same problem when I first received it - the tool holder was firmly locked in the spindle. The solution for me was a generous soaking of PB Blaster, let it sit overnight, and the next morning it came out relatively ( ) e...

Re: Replacement Parts for the Emco V7/V10P Lathe/Mill
Hi all, The Emco Maximat (and all of the Emco lathes) were, and still are made in Austria. They've been in business for 60+ years, originally making conventional lathes but current production is limited to CNC mills and lathes. See http://www.emco-world.com/en/company.html I've had my V10P since 1/1...

Re: Show us your milling machine!
Hello John, Congratulations on finding your Benchmaster - they are hard to find (at least in the Northeast and Midwest). Mine is the MV1 and truth be told, I'm just learning how to use a mill and think this one is ideal for me, both in capability and simplicity. Not a lot of bells and whistles but d...

Re: Un-sticking an old rotab
Hello John, First thing I'd suggest is not use WD-40; it is really mostly kerosene (or equivalent) and is designed as a water displacing material, at which it is quite good. I've done a number of restorations over the last couple of years and the best thing recommended to me for breaking things free...

Hi Rex,

Re: Derusting Benchmaster Mill
Hi Rex, Yep, Evaporust is amazing stuff and the best part is it takes off only the rust, not any of the good metal. Here's a photo of the before/after. Since then I've also done a restoration on a Maximat V10 P lathe/mill/drill combination in even worse condition and leaned heavily on Evaporust duri...

Re: Restorations....let's see what you did....
Hello All,
I've done a few restorations, including my Unimat, an Atlas/Craftsman 202 618 Lathe, Benchmaster Milling machine and my most recent is an Emco Maximat V10 P. Here are some before/after shots:

Re: My Emco Compact 5
Hello Jose,
You are indeed a lucky man having both the V10 Mentor as well as a compact 5.
What's that drive on the leadscrew?
Mike
