Besides a mag-drill, I have a hand held drill press, called a 'Drill-Mate', that does a great job with them. 1/2" chuck air drills fit right in it.
Look it up. They are handy for other things too.

Re: Whatzit?
Looks like a very rusty Rota-broach hole-saw.
We used them to drill rail for fish-plates.

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
Brake fluid is very hygroscopic ..absorbs water..water migrates from master cylinder down to wheel cylinders where it causes pitting around where the seals sit unattended in parked cars. There is some logic to these commendations..especially it DOT 4 fluid (I may have my DOTS confused). Back in the...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
Yes indeed. There is a lot of recommended servicing, which is way over the top excessive. I've had equipment, where the recommended service for hydraulic oil was 1000 hours.Particularlyinteresting on a drill jumbo, which, all to often, fail hoses, therefore causing the hydraulic oil to be 'self chan...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
Lubricating oil deteriorates simply due to being exposed to the air inside the crankcase. Changing the oil a couple of times each year is much less expensive than rebuilding (or replacing) the compressor pump when the crank journals get scored due to inadequate lubrication. Also, by changing the oi...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
They also said that consumer-grade piston machines are not designed for continuous operation (which I have sadly discovered). This is a reason why I recommended going with the two stage. Single stage compressors, all that I know of, are consumer grade. A matter of usage, and affordability involved,...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
Oh.....a reminder on the thought that Russ mentioned, worth a mention again, is to increase the CFM on his compressor, he can change the motor from a 5 to a 7.5 HP, go to a larger pulley, and he’s there. Me too. That’s typical with 2-stage compressors. I don’t think you can do that with the SS5, at ...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
Yes. The motor runs at 3450. I didn’t see a RPM spec on the air end. They do turn faster than their 2-stage counterparts, and also louder. I have been around some. A single stage air end, has to turn faster than a two stage at the same pressure, to get a similar output. They are less efficient. Their...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
The SS5 is a single phase screamer. Runs at 3450 RPM. That's how they pry 18 cfm out of it.
1800 RPM 2-stage.

I'd shop around for one of these.

Re: Bead rollers
I'm not sure about your project, but I have a shop upgraded HF bead roller. I use it mostly for adding rigidity in flat panels, or flanges for laps, both mostly for automotive scale work (desert/overland/rock-crawler trucks/buggies). One of the biggest problems with it, particularly in the OEM flex...

Re: Your thoughts on a replacement compressor
My 5HP keeps up with my blast cabinet, but I use small nozzles. (5/64")
My Craftsman Noise-O-Matic, wouldn't stand a chance with the cabinet. 5 HP they call it. Right. It can't keep up with a die grinder. Makes a lotta noise though.
